This one was kind of all over the place with lots of parallel stories going on some quite unrelated to others...its getting more like an episode than a book in some ones but still interesting and fun fluff.

This book is definitely my favourite from the series. I know that this is a romance series, but I read it for the world building and overarching plot. It’s a testament to the author that this is one of my favourite series despite its focus on romance and sex (which I find tedious to read about). That this book didn’t focus on a specific couple and was instead all about the world and existing characters was a refreshing change for me, because all of that is what keeps me coming back.

As this was a re-read it was also fun to notice this time around just how much the final book of this series ties into the various plots for the books from the Trinity series.

I confess: I started reading this book without reading of the previous 14 books. And boy, did that make a difference. I want to stress that the writing, story, and characters are not bad. Far from it. But not having all the previous context definitely made for a different reading experience.

ALLEGIANCE OF HONOR is a story about family and changeling packs coming together to support and protect one another as they work to stabilize a peace known as Trinity. While there are main characters who drive the plot, there are also moments where other couples from the previous books take the spotlight.

This is where I got lost. Much of the book felt like fluff, since we spent so much time with couples who got their happily-ever-afters or were looking to repair other relationships. It got to be too much since I hadn't spent much time with any of the characters. It was hard to connect with them since the stakes didn't seem to be very high, for the most point.

Granted, ALLEGIANCE OF HONOR is very sweet and perfect for long time fans, but I would have begun at a different point rather than at the end.

The writing itself is very good and I've enjoyed Nalini Singh books enough that I will continue with other works of hers. But I will definitely start at the beginning, next time!

Not quite as much of a story here as much extended epilogues with pieces of story in between. Still I enjoyed it (I probably enjoy the world building in the Psy-Changling books as much or more than I enjoy the relationships). I think I would have been more satisfied with some of this in a more fleshed out form -TBH this is more of a 3.5 stars than a four but I'll leave it where it is.

When Nalini Singh says this book is an end-cap to "Season 1" of Psy/Changeling, she's not lying. Allegiance of Honor deftly culminates the storylines and characters from the fourteen previous books. There's a bit more focus on Lucas and Sascha which I found apt due to the fact that they are the couple that started it all in [b:Slave to Sensation|178476|Slave to Sensation (Psy-Changeling, #1)|Nalini Singh|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1403541641s/178476.jpg|172416]. In [b:Shards of Hope|17159943|Shards of Hope (Psy-Changeling, #14)|Nalini Singh|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1414670964s/17159943.jpg|42797145] our rag tag groups of Psy / Changlings / Humans began to run into conflict with a group called The Consortium. After having been thwarted in their plans in Shards, The Consortium goes underground to regroup.

The Consortium pops up again in Allegiance, but I felt like it was more of a "hello, we're still here and ready to cause trouble" type of thing. Showing that things are not settled as of yet, and I'm assuming this group will be one of the main causes of conflict for "Season 2" of the series. I kind of kept waiting for the other shoe to drop (so to speak) in regards to something big and bad happening, but it doesn't come (at least not to the scale we've seen in previous books).

Mostly, Allegiance is about the characters we've come to love throughout this series. Each couple gets some page time (some more than others) throughout the story. At times I felt like we were catching up with old friends. Finding out where they've been and where they're going. Nalini Singh ties up some of the more secondary threads (cough*pupcubs*cough) that have been going on for quite a while.

I personally enjoyed the more sedate pacing, the more day-to-day type of domestic tasks we see throughout the story. I honestly love revisiting the characters. It makes me want to go back and start from the beginning. It's an observation that's made quite frequently in this book, that the reason these characters are in their respective places (the reason that many of these events have come to pass) can boil down to an Alpha Changeling and a Psy mating (for the most part of course). Which is why I think it was apropos that Sascha and Lucas are featured so heavily here.

It was nice to almost have a breather, of sorts, before Nalini Singh dives right into another big story arc. It's clear where things are set-up to progress in the world overall. I'm just looking forward to having some of the most recently introduced characters (such as BlackSea) hopefully get their own stories told, or we may see some of the now-grownup characters finally get their own books as well. Allegiance really makes you understand how big this world that Nalini Singh created is.

I think anyone who is a Psy/Changeling fan will love Allegiance of Honor.

2nd read: I feel much more magnanimous about this the second time around. Part of it absolutely as to do with saving it for last, since this is the big Happily Ever After for so many of our favorite couples, with little nods to all those who feature in the "second season" of the series after this (as described by Nalini Singh herself). Seeing everybody truly come together and being able to almost see the big web that connects them all together is simply magical. Plus, while I still would have liked to see the "Big Plot" given a proper finale, this still did something huge by showcasing a huge part of the problem for why the Honeycomb hasn't completely fixed everything, and set the groundwork for what has to happen next to ensure their survival. I'm so beyond excited for the next book in the series, and so glad I did this huge read-through!

1st read: Surprise, I loved it. Not my favorite being an ensemble book that didn't wrap up The Big Plot but it was still so swell to see everybody. Missed you guys. Augh.

I loved this latest installment of the Psy-Changeling world. It's different from the previous books as it doesn't focus on one couple, instead it brings in some of our favourite characters and we learn more about their new world. Now I can't wait to have my hands on book #16 but it's ages yet :'( Hopefully soon we'll find a bit more about Nikita and Anthony's strange relationship and the water changelings as the Trinity series takes over :-)

3.5 Like coming home Stars.

What I can I say about Nalini Singh & her Psy-Changeling series that anyone and everyone hasn’t already said? Not a lot really.

I liked this but I didn’t love this. We get to see all the characters from the previous book and how it continues with the Trinity Accord. It was cool checking in with Sasha/Lucas/Naya. Hawke & Sienna. And we find out about the Pupcubs.

All the chess pieces are in place to continue the next journey of the Psy-Changeling. We see old friends and new friends, new changeling packs and how everyone is adjusting and what is to happen. I did feel slightly let down.

I am so enjoying my journey through the Psy-Changeling world. I think I need a break soon though, reading so many in a row has blurred the edges between these stories.

This was a reunion tour for the ages though. It didn't do anything to help me separate the stories from one another though. Because this book didn't introduce a new couple like all of the previous books. As the last book in this series, prior to the spin-off or "season 2" of Psy-Changeling Trinity, this book moved forward the political plot and showed us some of our favorites from the first series.

It was a nice way to say farewell for now to the couples that have paved the way to make the Trinity Accords happen. We still have some loose threads to pick up in the Trinity series. As such, of course I immediately hopped into the first book in that series. Even knowing that I should have taken a break. Maybe after this next one. Maybe not. It's just so easy to start the next book!
