I thought this book was great. I loved seeing more of Nick and learning about Elizabeth. I was a little wary in the beginning because I love Sam and Anna, but Nick and Elizabeth surprised me.

Nick has been having flashbacks. And they are growing worse. As well as creating more questions. Nick needs to know what happened all those years ago when he was working for the branch. And what a particular young girl has to do with it all.
Elizabeth was kidnapped and held captive by the branch. She was tested and experimented on. She did escape. With the help of a young man who she doesn't know. Years later she is still curious as well as traumatized from her time as a human experiment.

When Nick finally meets Elizabeth, the girl he saved in the woods he doesn't get the answers he hoped for, even is giving more questions as to what her involve be was with the branch.

They both soon discover Nick isn't the only one who is looking for Elizabeth.

I loved this book, even with a few doubts at the beginning I kept with it and am glad that I did because it was a fantastic story that is leaving me with a few questions of my own. I'm hoping for more Anna and Sam as well as maybe some Cas.

"Oceans are vast and bottomless. You play in the rain, Elizabeth. You drown in the sea."

Finally Nick's story. It's a lot less back story and much more present story. But we finally see Nick's world through his eyes. We live with his demons (yikes, he has a lot) but we also see him change and become someone more.

Elizabeth is his mission. She's someone he recognizes from before but he can't figure out why.

This was a high energy, page turning rush to finish. It's an amazing story with all new twists and turns - with so many surprises at the end I'd never guessed.

Can't wait for the next one!

Amazing! The Altered series is by far my favorite series I have read! I literally could not put this book down, 5 hours later the book was over and I was bummed! I love that there were two points of view to this book. It gave you more background information on Nick and introduced us to Elizabeth! I really hope there is a fourth book to come and I am hoping that as long as Jennifer Rush keeps Riley alive there will be more books to come!!

I really liked how in the previous book the writer developed Nick and a desire to learn more about him. I loved seeing him in a new light. I would have read this book if it was 600 pages just to see more between him and Elizabeth and his more protective side, because of choice not serums or sciences. A great book loved it.

I really enjoyed the first 2 books in this series, but felt like this one kinda skewed off track. Here's why:

I felt like book 2 had a definitive ending and that this book didn't add anything new. I didn't like the addition of the new character, and that it changed point of view every chapter.

In this book you find out more about Nicks past, but its part of his past you don't really need, and we already found out the important stuff about Nick in the last book. I feel like if anyone should have had an extra story, it should have been Cas because he's the only character we really don't know about.

I also felt this unnecessary because the only thing that didn't get resolved in the last book was that Riley was still out there, and that's still not resolved in this book.

I wish Anna and the other characters were in this one more than they are, but it's really about Nick and this random girl that he has flashbacks of. There's no rhyme or reason for Nick to go searching for one of the many people he most likely killed for the branch. I also wanted to know more about how the characters all got involved in the branch and still feel like I need further detail with that, but alas, we get this.

I felt like this book was very out of place compared to the others because all of the sudden there's a lot more sexual tension. The first 2 books are like a PG rating and this one was PG13. It just didn't seem to fit.

Even with all that, I still enjoyed the story. I just feel like there are still pieces missing, and there should either be more books, or this should have been a spinoff.

I wish I had liked this more, but contemplated DNFing about halfway through. I think I just wanted more of them working as a team, but it was nice to be in the world.
