I always try and read historical books. I find them really hard to read but I just feel like I'm missing out if I write a historical book off.

This was sweet and you have to kind of admire her determination. I just couldn't throw myself into it.

Rounding up on this one. I thought it started off really strong and loved the quick pace. But somewhere around 2/3 the way I was ansy from allllll the drama. Not sure why it ended where it did. Worth a read but will not read it again.

I found this book very enjoyable and Diana Gabaldonish. However, the place I saw that it differed was in the descriptions. I love descriptions but I did find that at times it was a bit too much. Like, in the middle of almost getting your head bashed in and dying, you see things that no one would notice: flower petals dropping. It's true that the book would not have suffered and would have been a lot shorter if it was not so descriptive. But I understand that it would have been a hard line to draw because I did enjoy the feelings of being in the story. Donati was able to paint such a vivid description of the landscape, the people, the homes, etc. that I did "see" it all.

The story itself was wonderful and very educational. Native Americans during that time were not treated well at all and it was so very sad. We got a big taste of it all in this tale. The conflicts were realistic and the love story was strong. However, as much as I loved the two main characters and their love story, it wasn't as strongly felt as with Jamie and Claire. It lacked a little.

I enjoyed this book very much and would recommend it to anyone that loves the Outlander series, historical romances, and a great story with a strong female lead.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and posted several of my favourite quotes on IG. At first, I found Elizabeth too proud & rational to care about, but the more I learned about her the more fascinating she was as a character. Nathaniel really balances her out as well. I loved learning more about the First Nations & settlers during the18th century. What might turn off some readers is Elizabeth's and Nathaniel's disinterest and disregard for Christianity and/or religions. It might be due to Elizabeth being a practical character, but church was a big part of settler life. There wasn't even really any mention of what First Nations believe. It made me wonder how much that was the author's views coming in, or the author finding it too complicated part of life. Either way, I really enjoyed the romance and the way Nathaniel & Elizabeth learn from each other.
adventurous emotional inspiring medium-paced

Did not finish because I found it to be incredibly boring and predictable.
