Update: June 2018
Yep - I still love this book. I'm excited to read the rest of the books in this series this summer!

I loved this book so much. Lucky is sassy and spunky, and I enjoyed her snark and confidence. Felicity was probably my favorite character, just because I can see myself in her. And James. James is hot. I wish I had a James in my kitchen. To all the fans of New Adult, read this one. It's fun, and there is a lot of food appreciation in it. I love food. :)

I hate when characters in their twenties act like spoiled brats towards each other. There is a way, how to do a hate-to-love relationship but this one ain't it. I hate these characters, especially the main heroine, she is quite a bi*ch and not the strong empowered female character, the author went for. Maybe that will change later in the book but I don't care to finish it.

The writing was good, I really liked Zoraida's YA books but this one was not for me.

This was a very fun, fluffy romance.

My biggest complaint is that there were a lot of typos in the ebook version I was reading, which is always super distracting to me.

This was solid. It's a foodie romance and a workplace romance, which are two things I generally love. Everything else was good, but not amazing. The main characters were both prickly types. They both were dealing with family drama. It was almost a little too similar and the friction between them wasn't as compelling as some of the surrounding problems. It was fun while it lasted but I'm not sure how much of this will stick to me when neither the main character nor the romance found a way to really differentiate itself.

It started out strong, but petered out toward the end. Plus, the typos were a bit glaring. I couldn't really get a bead on the characters. Seemed a bit convoluted. I did love the setting as a Boston girl myself. But sadly that didn't save the story.

I really enjoyed the beginning of this story, but as I read on, everything just went downhill for me. There were tiny parts that made me really confused, Lucky would be drinking and seem completely fine until the author says she slurring. I'm kind of like 'what?' I mean I don't understand how she could go from talking normally, to all of a sudden slurring. Or as a reader, am I suppose to assume that she's drunk based on the fact that she's drinking? I did somewhat enjoy the development between Lucky and James. I just didn't really feel anything towards their relationship. It was just kind of there. The characters weren't necessarily terrible, they just weren't memorable for me. Although, I honestly could not tolerate Lucky's mother. I mean I understand where she was coming from, but I don't think her behavior could be justified. It was just completely unnecessary and in my opinion, unforgivable for the way she acts. The only reason why I gave this story a two stars was because I enjoyed the author's writing.

This was a cute read with a very likable heroine. I liked the love/hate relationship between the main character Lucky and bad boy chef James. Besides a sexy romance, Luck on the Line is a coming of age story about Lucky figuring out what she should do with the rest of her life.

Lucky is a heroine that I easily found relatable. She’s opinionated and doesn’t shy away from conflict. Although she’s not afraid to stand up for herself, Lucky is struggling to find her place in the world. She’s floated from job to job without figuring out what she wants to do with the rest of her life.

The romance was great in this book. I love stories that feature characters who start out hating each other, but then realize they’re only fighting their undeniable chemistry. The romance was a heavy focus in the plot, but I still felt like the author took enough time to develop Lucky’s character. However, I would’ve liked more insight into Lucky’s relationship with her mom in order to understand her mother’s actions.

Overall, Luck on the Line is a cute romance with a lot of funny one-liners. I did enjoy the author’s writing style, so I’ll definitely be checking out more of her books.

Thanks to the publisher for a copy of the novel for review!

More of a 3.5 star read, but rounded down thanks to the MC stating that a color-coordinated store made her “eyes have a serious case of ADHD” (which 1. yikes on a bike and 2. what does that even mean?)

That being said, I loved Lucky as a character. It’s nice to see a woman who’s more prickly/angry as a romantic lead. I also liked the dislike-to-love aspect of this, which is not a thing I normally enjoy, but worked here because the dislike between the main characters was based on shallow things rather than a deep-seated hate. The plot was a bit slow, but all of the delicious food descriptions made up for it.

Overall, I did enjoy this book and will probably check out the next in the series.
