Many thanks to the publisher for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. This in no way impacted my views and opinions below.

I've been seeing so many mixed reviews about this, and the hype's pretty big, too. It's safe to say that my encounter this book has gone really well! The premise of the book captured my attention from the get-go; I love fairy tale retellings, and I haven't seen many Snow Queen ones. Danielle Paige manages to weave the fairy tale retelling into the plot wonderfully, resulting in a very magical story. I definitely gobbled up the pages! This book actually helped me stave off an impending reading slump after [b:Empire of Storms|28260587|Empire of Storms (Throne of Glass, #5)|Sarah J. Maas|https://d2arxad8u2l0g7.cloudfront.net/books/1463107108s/28260587.jpg|25272004]. I needed a fantasy, but not a heavy one, and this magical fairy tale retelling was just it!

When I first started reading, I admit I was a bit thrown off by the writing. I expected beautiful imagery & words to match the beautiful cover, but the writing was subpar, to say the least?¿ It confused me at times, but I finally got used to it.

My favorite thing about the book is the protagonist, Snow. She's a very refreshing protagonist. Most books with Princess MC's make them selfless and self-sacrificing, which is great, but not realistic. Snow, on the other hand, is selfish, and doesn't want to be who she is, because honestly, who would want to discover that they are a legendary princess with a psychotic, ruthless father who wants to have utter control of the country? Not Snow, that's for sure.

The plot of the story is very fast-paced, which actually worked really well. We're introduced to the world in very small snippets. The world building isn't a gradual, steady incline, it's a jigsaw puzzle slowly being pieced together. Most people might think this is messy, but it actually worked really well. This isn't a regular fantasy story, you have to piece together the world yourself, so keep that in mind while reading. There's also an aura of mystery around the story. We're introduced to many characters, and most of the time, it's a question of "Who can I trust?" It's very intriguing.

What I see most people being annoyed about is the love square. I do agree that the idea of Snow falling for a guy over the span of a few days is laughable, but that didn't stop me from feeling all the feels! I really like *the love interests*, and I hope they're developed more in the next book.

Overall, this book has a very pacy plot with just the right amount of intrigue & mystery. The romance was a bit unnecessary, but enjoyable. Snow is a great, kickass protagonist and the secondary characters are all memorable. This book definitely has it all: heists! magic! potions! beasts! thievery!! I cannot wait for the sequel!

There’s nothing wrong with the concept, I just didn’t like any of the characters and motives weren’t believable. Everything felt a bit disjointed.

I just could not finish this book... I even tried doing the audiobook but even the narrator sucked! I was half way through this really debating if I should finish it and finally buckled. I was a huge fan of her Dorothy Must Die series, but the writing on this one was not captivating at all. I originally thought this book was going to be about Snow White, but it's about the Snow Queen which is fine. My beef is that the characters have no depth, they are not interesting at all. The whole story felt like it was going nowhere and just 50 pages in you find out that she is from a magical land and a savior, bah! I really tried to give it my all to finish it, but I just couldn't! I would give this 0 stars if I could.

"She brings the snow with her touch, they think she's gone, but we know, she will come again. She will reign in his stead. She will bring down the world on his head. OH come Snow, come. . . "

Hey guys, so I finished Stealing Snow (Stealing Snow, #1) by Danielle Paige. I was initially drawn to this book because of how it started. It just seemed so interesting, Snow's situation and everything. So I wanted to see what would become of it, of her. And I did. And...well, it was a nice novel. It was an okay novel. I mean, the beginning was good, kept me engaged and interested, the middle was kind so so. I felt myself breezing through it. I was simply scanning it. I didnt feel as connected with the story as I just moseyed along. The writing was alright. As in, if the writing was a bit description, it was either easy to scan through, or just kind of...skip? In my opinion, most of the description was more world/environment building. And thus, me being me, did not find it essential to pour over every single detail. But, other readers might like to do exactly that. Hey, to each its own. Im just telling you my experience while reading this book. If you want your own, you read it. So yeah, I felt I got more out of the character's inner monologue and dialogue then any other description. So, the middle of the story ambled along okay. It took some weird twists and turns and went in directions that I wasnt sure what was really happening. I dont think the MC knew either. She was just going where her drive and magic took her. Honestly, I really kind of wanted to just get to the end of it. Then that ending, holy moly. That was...that was something. That really gave the book a last spark of WOW. It was just like, bang bang bang. Revelation over here. Secret over there. Another revelation over here. It was rapid fire of being shocked to no end. Seriously. Man. I was speechless. The ending, the ending was truly spectacular. Basically, my fav parts of the book were the beginning, and the ending. Then, there was one character who was my fav of all. jagger. He was bae. He was so charming and cute and sweet. And for a moment, I thought he was another secret to, but *shrugs*. Anyway, i really liked jagger. He and Snow should be together. OH! Speaking of couples, gods...I felt like there was one love interest after another. Yeah, the romance wasnt very good, in my opinion. I mean, Snow goes on this quest to save her love, and ends up stringing two more along the way? Like wtf? Regardless, I really liked Jagger. He should be endgame. Kai can go screw off. And Bale...I did like him. I also liked Snow's determination to get him. Despite all the obstacles in her way. Everything she did, she did for Bale. I admired that. I suppose I admired Snow as well. Though the one thing I am kind of confused about, is how she went about this world so well. I mean, like, with minimal mental damage from the psychward. She had been pretty messed with in there. I am surprised she was able to function as well as she did. Not only that, but her powers man, those were wicked. Though for some reason, I just imagining her as Elsa from Frozen everytime she did. Is that a good or bad thing? Ha, i'll let you decide. So yeah. Snow was an alright character. Jagger was a really alright character. And everyone else can just be...okay. Ha. Alright, as always, if you guys have any questions or comments, please drop em below. Till next time. Bye.

** I received of a free copy of this book via Bloomsbury and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review **

^This GIF could just be the entire review, but I'll try to elaborate more.

This book was straight up not for me. There was a LOVE SQUARE, an annoying main character and absolutely no word building. I can't even remember anything about this book except how much I didn't like it. There were tiny bits of potential throughout it, but nothing that stuck. It was just drowned out by all the awfulness such as medication shaming, poor handling of mental illnesses and cringeworthy lines like:

A life without kissing is no life at all.
.

I hate saying someone shouldn't read a book because we all see things differently, but there is no way I can recommend this. If you want to read it definitely pick up a copy from your library.

I'm not even sure how I managed to finish this book, but when I did this was my reaction:
