In this twist and turn adventure Zane has just located the last godborn on his list but things aren't turning out to well after SHIHOM is attacked in a shocking betrayal Zane finds himself at SHIHOM sooner then expected to add to the mystery all the gods have mysteriously disappeared and the godborns are next on there list... whilst I enjoyed the first two books in the Storm Runner trilogy when it came to the third book I found it a bit slow and boring and had to push myself to read hoping that it would get better and it did but I am still not pleased with the conclusion and the twist seemed underdeveloped and like little thought was put into making the twist in the plot, if it was to have been any better making this stolen object be the Mayan calendar would have added another level to the plot and given me what I was anticipating but either way, I am looking forward to reading [b:Throne of Sand|54435522|Throne of Sand (Throne of Sand, #1)|J.C. I'm thankful that the ARC of the first book of the next series prompted me to return to this series. All of the characters got full character development arcs that had them deal with a catastrophic situation without supernatural fallbacks. I don't have more detailed thoughts on this books since I went directly into "Lords of Night" after reading this and finished that one far more recently.

Fantastic end to a fantastic trilogy. I really enjoyed learning so much about Mayan and Aztec/Mexica mythology. The characters were well fleshed out and the story was riveting.

Really really liked this conclusion!

-Stakes were RAISED
-I said this about the last two books but I love how much time is taken to developing the world. I think the success in world-building has a lot to do with how the stakes are raised because things are set up gradually throughout the story so you understand the impact of something going wrong.
-There was a magical aspect I wasn't expecting here having to do with time and I liked it! Time is a tricky thing to include in magic systems because there are so many implications for it but I liked how the mythology was tied into it.
-This book really introduced the new godborns and their abilities, which I was so excited to see. However, I wish we were able to spend more time with them. What we got about them was very surface level which was mainly to do with the fact that this was a trilogy, but I just found all their abilities and backstories so interesting that I wanted more.
-In general, while I praise the plot and world-building a lot with this series, sometimes I wished more time would have been spent on developing the characters. We got a lot from Zane's voice, but I came out of this series without a real strong sense of who Brooks was. And I mentioned before how the godborns didn't have all that much. The exception to this was Hondo (reminded me a lot of Sokka), and Ixtab and Ah-Puch--they were such great characters to follow.

I think that this was soild conclusion to this series. I think it not only wrapped up the the main elements of the series but fleshed out the world for future books. It was read that had so many unexpected twists and turns and I really loved also the how fleshed out this story began. I thought this book was a fun adventrued filled read. I also loved how how the story ended!! I really fun series!!
