Honestly, I picked this book up at the dollar store figuring if I didn't like it at least I didn't spend too much on it. Im so glad I grabbed it! I definitely felt true emotion come out when a couple of the topics came up and it was a great was to approach these "touchy" subjects. Good plot and also brings good awareness to some serious issues.

I wish I knew how to make this review do justice to the book. The author told the story fabulously. She mixed the hard subject of the main character's abused past with some seriously funny moments of the horny grandma and the quirky clients. It was a book that left you feeling like the story was complete. Can't wait to read more by this author!

I can't say enough good things about Cathy Lamb. This book has some quirky characters that you can't help but love once you meet them. The main character has a lot going on in her life and though at times it seems to take a little bit to get to her story, it is really worth it. I would have liked to have seen more from the ending but I'm a romantic, I want the happy ever after for characters who deserve it and I definitely think this book is one of those that warrants it. This didn't detract from my enjoyment of the book by any means but I the hopeless romantic in me wanted them to have more:)

the beginning of this book had a disjointed and confusing writing style. I almost gave up at chapter 5 or 6 but i am pleased i persevered as the whole is definitely worth the read. The whole story appears to centre on client one event and its repercussions but it become clear that earlier events have all lead to this day. There is sometimes too much detail - for instance i do not understand why we have to know about all Madeleines patients although the dust sprinkling client does eventually have an understandable role.

" Grief is a walk alone" is one of the most telling lines for me

I read this book a few years ago and realize I never reviewed it! Although it has been a while since I read it, the story was funny, heartwarming, and sad... as Cathy's novels usually are.

She somehow knows how to make us laugh, even when the story is sad. And the importance of family always resonates in her stories, reminding us what is really important in life.

This was an incredibly well-crafted book. The author wove several stories together perfectly, transporting us between time and place. The book really focuses on overcoming one's fractured childhood. It was a bit of a hard read at times, as it dealt with child abuse/child pornography. But since the book was so much more than that, it is worth the heart ache of that topic.

Enjoyed it.

Cathy Lamb is definitely one of my favorite authors! This is only the second book of hers that I have read, but her style is wonderful! This was a serious story but with such a variety of characters, so many quirky and amusing, that it leaves you with a perfect blend of emotions!

Madeline has had such a traumatic experience in her childhood that she does not live her life, dress, or even wear her hair the way she wants. She is damaged, but at the same time she is the life coach of others. This story goes back in time so you can discover more about her life, and then to the present where you learn how her past has affected her now. What a great book and a wonderful author!

I am an avid fan of Cathy Lamb, but when I read some of the reviews for this story I was leery to read it, because of the topics inside the book. I have to say that even though when I got to the rough parts of the book, it gave me a little tummy ache, I enjoyed the majority of this book. It was interesting finally hearing about her families history, and when she finally became herself it made me shed a tear... Loved a lot of her characters like always this author has the kookiest but endearing characters..
