The more I think about it, the more this book insults me. It's very white feminist centric, and the useful advice is minimum. Some of the tactics would, in some workplaces, get you fired if you employ them, such as the "double middle finger while making a smile." I get that this book was supposed to he humourous, but it was trying too hard, and felt more like someone yanked a few Tumblr posts offline and called it crucial research. It was rather juvenile and unprofessional, when it's trying to give professional advice.
Also, the whole bit about how "no one picks on Justin Trudeau because he's pretty, and only women are seen as stupid if they're pretty" is 100% bullshit. Males, Females, the Left, and the Right constantly criticise Trudeau for only being a pretty face.
Ultimately, I was disappointed by this book, and expected it to be better and more than what it was. I wasn't expecting Tumblresque junk.

Got tedious after awhile, didn't add much more to the conversation after about page 200, but I enjoyed it until that part.
Jessica Bennett is a little too white and s little too cis and a little too wealthy in her writing. The very ‘rah rah vaginas’ gender essentialism and some other harmful stereotypes like “working with women is so great because we smell so much nicer”, made me crinkle my nose at several points throughout. But if you can look beyond her white feminist streak, there’s a lot of fun, funny, insightful and useful information to be found. It echoed a lot of the strategies I’d found most useful in my sexist workplace, and gave me some new ideas to try.

Was hoping for more advice on how to handle the individual examples, but it was more descriptive than helpful. Enjoyed the humor and snark of it, though!

Why couldn't this book have been written 20 years ago? I would have sat down with my younger self and had a nice chat over it. But... we are here now (thank goodness) and we can thank the strong women before us who paved the way.
This is a book written for young women who are finding their way through the workplace. I've already walked this road, and learned these lessons from the school of hard knocks. My critique of the book is that so many powerful points are punctuated by profanity that reads decidedly, well, masculine. I didn't need it to smile at the punchlines, or hear the message. The writing could have stood on its own.
