Everything good about the first book, turned up to 11. Kingfisher takes the clocktaur storyline to a satisfying conclusion and sprinkles in delightful details along the way. I especially loved getting to know the gnoles and their society and language better. I wouldn’t mind a book about Learned Edmund and his cooperation with the gnoles to write that gnole book.

I'm so happy I started this series. Thoroughly enjoyed it, but I'm still heartbroken.
Will try diving into the next book set in this world very soon.

great end to the clocktaur wars duology! i really loved how gnole culture was fleshed out in this book, and how the main cast grew closer to each other. i loved learned edmund's character development the most though! what a cool guy. really hoping i get to read a book centered on him, as kingfisher alluded to in the acknowledgements. i also loved the part where caliban finally feels his god's presence again (as well as when he interacts with the wild god in the city). lastly,
the twist with brenner
was so good! that said, i am excited to get back into the saint of steel series, as i think kingfisher's writing is a bit more polished/less cliche in those.

Loved the conclusion to this duology! I thought the reveals fit the story well, and I enjoyed seeing the growth of the characters through both books and where they ended up. Like pretty much all of this author’s works, this was a bit darker than my usual taste, and this was not my favorite fantasy world or characters I’ve ever experienced. However, I thought the romance was heartwarming and the plot was imaginative and creative. I am definitely planning on continuing with T Kingfisher’s paladin series next! 🫂👥👯‍♀️👸🏻🫅🏻🌥️

I enjoyed this book more than the first. The first 50% of the book was so hard to get into but I really loved the second half!

I wasn’t really interested in it anymore. I was reading this to get familiar with the world, since Swordheart takes place in the same universe.
