Okay, apparently I care about Aquaman now. Didn't see that one coming.

I was so close to giving this 5 stars, but that ending was terrible.
Spoiler He should've killed Black Manta, and no argument from anyone would make me change my mind.

It's true that most people hate or neglect Aquaman as a superhero. He's most probably not your favorite, and I'll be honest and say that he's not my favorite too, and he may/will never be. His story is very interesting and different yes, but not as mind-boggling as the others. He's someone I would read and watch about, but never will I proudly say that he's my favorite of them all.

This volume is a huge improvement from the first one, but like I said, the ending really ruined the whole thing. I was starting to have a different perspective of Aquaman, but after that ending, I'm back to thinking of him as just okay. Such a shame cause this volume's really action packed, and the story's actually really getting better. Can't wait to read the next 3 volumes (currently released) and see if I'll be giving at least one of those a 5-star rating. Highly recommended, Geoff Johns is my favorite comic book writer ever. Almost everything I've read by Geoff Johns received 4-5 stars, mostly 5.

This volume of Aquaman includes a whole slew of heroes I'd never heard of. Most of my familiarity with Aquaman came from the previous volume, so I have no idea if these are long-standing 2nd tier DC heroes or if they're just brand new constructions.
What this volume does really well - the art is great. The story is a notch above regular tights and capes stories, but not much beyond that. I think they could've cut down on the number of heroes and focused on one. Although on the surface he seems like the most ridiculous, my favorite of the bunch was The Prisoner. If i'm becoming a complete arm-chair critic, then I'd say they could have made his wrist-and-chain thingies not gold, and just regular looking tarnished metal.
A good smash and bash comic, with some plot problems. I wish they would've included more of what they did in the first comic with Arthur being sort of considered a joke by the public. That added an interesting dynamic. Despite its problems, worth reading.

"I AM NOT A WEENIE!" Aquaman screams, punching the absolute shit out of everyone with his trident. (jkjk)

Volume two follows up with more goodness, introducing (or maybe re-introducing?) "The Others." I've really been enjoying the power-couple dynamic with Mera and Aquaman and how, not so spoiler alert, love has really helped Aquaman chill, when we see who he use to be with "The Others." Even better is that he has a lot of room for growth. There were also some interesting hints about Mera's backstory, so I'm hoping for more in later volumes. What could've been filler and a throwaway storyline was made incredibly interesting. Onward!

Not as good as the first volume, but still pretty awesome. I like the concept of The Others. It's nice to give Aquaman a little more depth.

Story wasn't as entertaining this time, but the art is still insanely good. My library has volume 3 so I'll press on. Don't know if I'll continue after that one.

Man, these New 52 Aquaman cominc are so incredible. I am glad I checked these out from the library. I can tell that the style of these have influenced the DCU film. I plan to go back and read through a few more of the 2003 run and the classics, but honestly I know they will not compare to what Johns has done with these. I am really interested in more New 52, I have read some, but I want to explore it more and read more story lines leading up to both The Doomsday clock and Rebirth. If you want just one Aquaman line to read, I can honestly say that Geoff Johns has done the best from what I have read so far.

We get a glimpse into Arthur's past as we meet his old crew, The Others. It was nice to see that despite Arthur being late to admitting some actions he regrets from his past, Mera continued to trust that Arthur is a good person. Arthur carries a lot of guilt and regret about many things he has done and it is clear that he has matured and changed just as The Others have. He loses more friends along the way as The Others and him hunt down Black Manta. When they finally are able to confront him, Arthur makes a wise decision that represents how revenge is not a solution. This storyline is thematically impactful and helps further establish Aquaman as a character in a way I highly appreciated.

Another great trade. But would stood out to me in this one was the artwork. So many pages that i just stopped and stared at for minutes because they were so incredibly detailed and badass.
