i would've loved it more if this book was about iris and paige my girlies <3
When I started this book I didn’t think I’d love it and I thought it was going to be a bit TOO YA for me, but as I got further into it, it grew on me and became sweeter and even though I was SO frustrated with Claudia’s actions towards Gideon and wondering why he even kept trying, I ended up loving the book so much. :)

This book was so compulsively readable! Seriously, before I knew it I had blown through 200 pages and it felt like nothing. I thought all of the characters were all likable and I liked that Claudia was a gamer, but was also normal. I think a lot of times authors rely on stereotypes for their characters because it’s easier, but I appreciate when an author can “break the mold”. I liked all of Claudia’s interactions with Iris, but I found it a tad unbelievable that Claudia wouldn’t have ANY friends at school until senior year? But perhaps it’s because everyone else at her school is so rich… I don’t know, it just didn’t really ring true to me. While I enjoyed this book and Claudia’s story, I found myself wondering more and more about her older sister, Julia. I almost would like a story about her starting with the beginning of her pregnancy. She just seemed like a really interesting character and I wanted to know more about her–I found myself hardcore relating to her. Perhaps that’s just showing my age… Another great book from Mills and I’m excited to read more from her!
This was a very adorable book!
On a last day of summer party, Claudia overhears something she wasn't supposed to that puts her on the wrong side of the meanest girl in school. When they end up as partners on a school paper, they end up being forced into the school's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Soon Claudia finds herself making some new friends, and even a new romance.
Normally I can't read super young feeling YAs but I didn't mind it this time, I think I was charmed by the fluff. I've read so many YA contemporaries that take place majority in high school so I don't know why this one felt so young to me but it did. Maybe I really am just getting too old for this. (Don't @ me, I'll read what I want.) Or maybe it was just the writing.
Besides the cute romance, this book also has a strong female friendship that forms and just kept getting better. I loved their balance, and I loved all their talk of boy bands. Honestly I didn't even need the romance, the friendship was just so nice.
This is a personal pet peeve but there was a fair amount of the characters in this playing a MMORPG called Battle Quest and while I (sometimes) play those myself, I couldn't help but cringe when game things were explained.
Besides that, I don't really have any major complaints. It was fun and it was pure, and I enjoyed reading this one.

But I guess it looked how some little part of me wanted things to look. Even if it was just for a second. Like some TV version of high school. This book was adorable, plain and simple. The thing is that it reads pretty young, at least in my opinion. It's light and fluffy and cute, but sometimes it reminded me of a Disney channel movie even when they were cussing and talking about serious things. The main character is pretty sarcastic but she's a nice sarcastic that makes jokes all the time but is still super nice. The love interest is the same but a bit more quirky while still being fun.

4.5 "Nobody will be find your body" STARS
This book is an utter delight and represents everything I love about contemporary YA. It is a refreshing change to the over-the-top drama/antics that seems to plague YA these days.
Claudia is adorable heroine and her struggles are nothing unusual, but there genuine. I just wanted to hug her as she struggles to navigate the changes in her life. The secondary cast and storylines are excellent. Iris completely steals the show, and I would read a book about her in a second. I adore snarky characters and she's one of the best I've read in a while. Her dry humor and slow moving friendship with Claudia was hands down my favorite moments of the books.
"I'm going to shoot him..."
"Iris! You can't just shoot players indiscriminately."
"He dumped you; he deserves to die."
There is nothing remotely sad about the ending, but I found myself crying in the closing chapters. It was a bittersweet goodbye to cast of lovable and unforgettable characters. I really hope this book releases on audio on some point; I love to listen to it as a reread.
If you are a fan of old school YA, I highly recommend Foolish Hearts. This the second book I've read from Mills and cannot wait to read more. A huge shout out to Cynalicious and Hollis for pushing this one on me.
