Done and Done is book 2 of the Hollywood Love series, this time with Ana’s bestie, Ely (Elena), and Liam’s brother, Alex. You’ve met these two if you read the follow up novella to Seeking Stars, Love in Times of Contempt.

I loved Ely in Seeking Stars. She’s the bestie we all want in our corner. She’s fierce and unapologetically herself. As a plus sized woman, I love a plus sized MC and she’s completely comfortable in her skin and Alex’s opposite. I felt like she was the perfect match for Alex. Lots of tension. Lots of banter. Lots of build up.

I loved the mental health rep and it’s done well. Alex is dealing with depression and it was a complete normal thing to get therapy and loved the support from Liam who had referrals for him.

Although it kinda starts out with a bang, and it is one steamy bang, it’s a slow burn from that point because they really both want to do well for the company Liam and Ana own and I liked seeing the build up.

Overall, I’m really enjoying the series and look forward to more from Leonor Soliz.

Thank you to Leonor Soliz. I voluntarily read an early copy of this book.

When I say I love Alex and Elena I mean it with my whole chest. This book had all the things I love:
Ultra grumpy x ultra sunshine
Forced proximity
Work colleagues/antagonists
Pining/denial of love
Hurt/comfort
Will they/wont they

Alex a cantankerous grump finds himself beguiled by the ultra sunshiney Elena when they begin working together for his brother Liam and his parents Ana’s production company. Their smoldering tension ignites when Alex quits the company before he ever truly begins. However, the usually straight laced brother dives into temptation and engaged in a one night stand with the sexy Elena who can’t stand his personality but finds herself drawn to him none the less.

However angst ensues when Liam convinces Alex to reconsider taking the position in the company. Elena is flummoxed by the cranky Alex who gradually softens showing a compassionate heart beneath his harsh exterior.

The slooowww burn was perfect and I really enjoyed the character growth. I often found myself screaming SANDY!!! I loved it!

2.5/5 spice

Just get to the point. Also, the intentional asshole behavior with no justification isn’t pleasant to read.

There was something about the writing style I didn't like about this one because it made me focus on the writing itself and took me out of the story on multiple occasions. That said, the story itself was pretty good, I really enjoyed Alex's personal arc, and I loved that we had a fat woman as the main character and her rolls and stomach were acknowledged and appreciated (and the cove illustration matched her description). Probably won't seek out more by this author but wouldn't be opposed to trying another if I came across it and it appealed to me.

Grump/Sunshine but make it workplace and multicultural!

Ely is determined to bring everything she has to her new job in Hollywood. Alex is going through something, he’s not even sure what, but he’s almost certain working for his brother’s production company alongside Ely, who is quickly becoming irresistible, won’t fix him.   Despite their undeniable chemistry and feelings, and that one night they refuse to discuss, Ely and Alex clash constantly at work until he finally starts to do some work on himself and she realizes that second chances aren’t a sign of failure.

Once again there is absolutely beautiful discussions of therapy and what healing looks like for different people in different places of their journey. But what absolutely grabbed my heart was the fact that Ely is fat, or plus sizes if you prefer, and yet she still enjoys sex and fashion, has confidence, and is the object of more than just Alex’s desire.  This is not the first book I’ve read where this is true of a fat FMC but it was done so well that I really just sat with the joy when I finished the book.

Leonor Soliz is an auto buy author for me for sure and I’m an absolute stan for her extra content and 2nd epilogues!
