this was a masterpiece.

wonderfully written with a clever plot, compelling characters, and beautifully incorporated West African folklore. deftly navigates themes like love, grief, belonging, power, revenge, and justice.

Tarisai is a remarkable character, she feels so deeply and is so strong. and so so so much is asked of her.

the journey the reader is lead on is fantastic, there were many jaw-dropping moments that both took me by surprise but were foreshadowed so well. and the ending of book two is SO satisfying.
