Started out strong but was somewhat anticlimactic.

This book is fine. Story is okay, main character is fine and that makes for an overall fine book that is kind of bland and predictable. I enjoy some brain candy but I at least need it to be fast paced and funny and this is a light read that is trying to be a lot more.

I just couldn't get into this one, but I will probably circle back to this one at some point.

One of my favorite reads this year. Never boring, the author leads through a journey to live beyond the expected, unexciting path we feel we may have been set upon. A perfect reminder that life is short, that there is excitement and growth in unexpected experiences, in trying new things, and letting new people in.

I picked up this book in the book store because the title looked interesting, the premise sounded promising (Alissa buys a storage locker at an auction and discovers the ashes of a man and the name of the funeral home and decides to return them to New Mexico from North Carolina) and when I flipped through it I found an intriguing sentence ("So, I hear you were arrested in Little Rock). I was hooked. I had to buy it.
It's full of adventures from North Carolina to New Mexico and she meets some unusual people and makes some odd decisions, but apparently pretty much enjoys herself on the trip. There's a few times she wonders, especially since she can't find any family for Roger Hart's ashes, but she takes care of that. She learns a lot about herself.

A book about changes, new friends, family, time, love, a three-legged dog named Casserole and a road trip to take a man's ashes home, this book was a fun, witty, light read with plenty of nuggets of wisdom thrown in. I flew through this just as quickly as I did The Art of Arranging Flowers and would recommend to anyone in need of a contemporary that features an adult protagonist still trying to figure out her place. "Most people die how they live", as she so eloquently writes, and this book will make you think about how you want to live and if that includes traveling a little lighter.

This is my first time reading work by this author. I enjoyed it. The book was a sweet, gentle book about Alissa (Al) , a lady in her early thirties who ventures from North Carolina to New Mexico on a mission. After purchasing the unclaimed contents of a storage locker, she finds the cremated remains of a gentleman named Roger and an address for the funeral home from which they originated. After unsuccessfully attempting to learn more about the person online, she makes a snap decision to drive to New Mexico with her three legged dog, Casserole, to find a suitable final resting place for Roger's ashes. The trip and the people that she meets along the way help Al find out about life and what has been missing from hers.

I would recommend this book to those who are in the mood for something that is light, yet not fluffy or whimsical. A charming book.

It probably won't win any prizes but it was a nice feel good book that was perfect for a summer road trip. Easy reading
