some books are too embarrassing to review but in short I won’t be reading a shifter book for a while because of how bad this one was 0 ⭐️ and DNF hall of fame

This is terrible for two main reasons.

1. “Wolves will be wolves” is used in place of “boys will be boys.” Brandi goes into heat and suddenly it’s ok to try and rape her because the young males are just young males and can’t control themselves. And the men leer and taunt and disrespect her boundaries and touch her without consent. It’s ridiculous.

2. When Brandi leaves her old life behind, she has to ditch her furniture because Jason hates it and Jason acts all butt hurt and unmanned by the fact that she makes more money and has nice things. Fuck. That. Noise. Now, the author makes Brandi explain that her things didn’t matter to her but her things are fucking antiques carefully chosen. Hard to believes she’s cool totally abandoning her own style to embrace Jason’s. Also she’s going to give away her hella expensive stuff? No one with sense would do that.

Insta love was fine. Spice was good. All else about this world was just annoying.

I haven’t read a paranormal romance in quite a while, but this synopsis sounded like something I would like. This story started off with a bang and I enjoyed reading it.

Brandi and Jason were just a good couple together! The chemistry was there right off the bat and the scenes between them were really good. What lowered my rating was when everything hit the fan. I was okay with how everything ended, I just wish it didn’t take so long to solve the drama with the other pack.

Overall, I liked it! I’ve never read books by Laurann Dohner or Kele Moon before, but I will be looking into more from them!

Couldn't get into it, the writing felt stilted. putting it down for now but might resume at a later date.
EDIT: Finished it last night. I still don't understand why it has such great ratings on Goodreads. I'm leaving my 1 star rating; there was steamy sex for pages, but no character progression, weak writing and a somewhat disjointed plot.

No compromise

So I was expecting the instalove even if I'm not a fan of it. I wanted a shifter book and that's usually part of the deal. It was the fact that he claimed he was willing to do anything for her but its all words. He insulted her home they made her feel bad for having things and being successful and she just gives all that up. Yes he protected her but in the actions the only person who makes sacrifices is her and that's not okay. Relationships are meant to have compromise and its not enough to just say you would and then watch as she gives everything up like that's how its supposed to be. Her success is treated like a bad thing and that's not okay.

'it was ok'.

I didn't love it nor did I hate it, but it wasn't anything special to me. At times I found the writing a little clunky and I found Brandi's reactions (as a human) very unrealistic when it came to finding out new things. Signed on to Mate for life? Sure thing let me just go home and pack some things! The whole book spans over just a few days (approx. 3) and while Amazon said 262 pages my kindle was saying 2- 2.5 hours of reading time so I just don't believe it was that long.

Anyway, overall it was missing a few things. Most of it was 'mating' between these two and a quick catch the bad guy at the end. I'm glad it was on KU as it's been on my TBR since before release and I would have been disappointed paying the $5+ a) because I'm a tight arse, and b) because it was really missing something to make it a 'good' book.

A promising start of a new series.
I'm not super thrilled, but I would definitely read the next installment if I stumbled across it.
