This was fun.

I think it's part of a series or an offshoot of one. I've read one of the other books but not the whole lot and this stood up well on its own.

I really enjoyed the melodramatic silliness of the dragons and they way they took a small idea and ran with it until it was huge event. The interactions with Steffan were amongst my favourite.

In other stories I've read, dragons are portrayed as very serious etc so this was a lovely departure.

Perspective: first
Tense: present
POV: dual
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ 3: Medium Salsa (A few open door scenes with explicit descriptions, but not very detailed)
Stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4: Great, calling it good doesn’t feel adequate. I really liked it and had a very good time reading it.
Review:
Another fun read from this universe! I felt like there was less of a typical rising conflict and climax type of plot with this one, and I often don’t like character driven books as much, but this one was pretty sweet!

Baring Joel Leslie's superb narration:

I was kinda disappointed with this book because:

A: Percy The LUCIFER was so insecure and just spineless.

B: Brandt: The 30-thousand-year old dragon, who is responsible for other dragons, was immature and frankly too silly.

I think this series has went off the rails a bit. I really wish the second book in this series is better.

I KNOW this is fiction. I KNOW this is supposed to be a humorous urban fantasy series. But somethings don't add up. Less is more.

Set 3 years after the events of the Hidden Species concluding book, this starts out with a dragon crash landing in the shed of a property Percy is renting for the last 6 months, bring Brandt back into line of sight, and Brandt likes him there.

Percy sighs. “That seems to be catching on. Lucky me,” he mutters.

I smiled the whole time I read this, it was just wonderful. I really liked being able to see Percy as he tried to figure out who he is now and though Brandt is a giant puppy, nearly all the time, they really work well together, as well as how much Percy and the Dragon clan need each other.

The real question is should you read the first series, before this one? I don’t believe you have to, however it does spoil events from the first series and I do believe you get a better understanding of who Percy is if you read Hidden Species first, but I don’t believe it’s a must.

I wanted Percy and Brandt's story to be 5 stars, but it just never reached that potential.

First of all, if you're thinking this is an exact continuation of the main series, think again. While Hidden Species has a plot/conflict for each book and an underlying conflict for the whole series, the Here Be Dragons does not. It's pure romance for romance sake. The characters are attracted to each other, there is absolutely nothing (at least no real thing) keeping them apart, and there's no outside conflict about to rain on their love fest.

Personally, I find this type of story a tad boring. Because I'm being presented with characters that want to be together and achieve it by 50% or earlier. And then that's it. They're together, having the love fest of their lives (happens in book 2 as well btw). So why would I keep reading, you know? I like to read about couples who fight for each other right up until the end, couples who work together against outside conflict because they know their relationship is worth it.

But this is my preference. If you love low to no conflict couples, a love fest with no stakes or challenges, then please enjoy. Getting to know the dragons is great as they're a quirky and hilarious bunch. They're the only reason why I'm giving these 3 stars and not lower.

I need more Percy and Brandt already! I just loved them so much!

I was so looking forward to this book coming out. As soon as a book for Percy was announced I was so happy. We met his love interest, Brandt, at the end of the last book. He is a dragon, and a the leader of his people. This is set 3 years from the last book where we saw Percy being replaced is the Lucifer, and replaced by Sam by the magic. He has been moving from place, to place since then, enjoying his retirement and the things he never got to do.

The book starts with a yong dragon landing on his roof, this leads him to once again coming into contact with Brandt. Percy is in Australia, and Brandt is there with the dragons father to bring him home. Sparks fly between the pair straight away.

Percy was just the Lucifer to us in the previous series, we didn't know much about him but that. We got to know a bit more about him in David's book due to him being his best friend. That really got me wanting to know about who Percy was as a person. Due to no longer being the Lucifer, he is just plain old Percy, felid shifter. He is so misunderstand by others due to how he acted as the Lucifer, but here thanks to Brandt, and David, we get to know the true Percy. He is kind, and caring, and this is seen by how he treats people. He is struggling with what to do with his life, he won't admit it, but he missing helping peolple, which David help him see. He was attracted to Brandt from the get-go, but due to what was happening at the time he couldnt do anything about it. He is still hurting from the loss of his best friend Lily who was killed 4 years eairler. I loved getting to know him, and his love for sexy panties!

Brandt was a bit of a mystery to us in the previous book, a bit like Percy really. Here we get to know a lot more about Dragon, who are so much like Hellhounds its scray! He is very fun loving, and cares deeply about his people. He was also attracted to Percy at first sight, but due to moving to a new home, and the threat still there that couldn't do anything. But now he is going in all guns blasing. He is so funny with the way he relentlessly pursues Percy.

They are so cute together, especially the way they flirt. As usual its the, let's just be sex-firends, but on no maybe let just be in a relationship instead. Percy is hesitant at first, but when he all in, he's all in. They are so hot togther, especially when Percy just let's go and Brandt takes over. They just work togther, both in, and out of the bedroom. I loved Percy's interactions with the other Dragons, his ex-Lucifer self shows threw in them times. You could see the love between them from miles off, they both needed each other to be complete. The way they flirted together was hilarious. After Percy let slip about, naked dragon rides, he could never live it down. Everyone knew straight away and tormented him to no ends. Those words he will never be able to get away from. Much like the interference from their friends, they knew too much about their sex lives for Percy's liking!

I adored the cast of characters in this book, especially Dustin, Brandts grandson. It was great catching up with everyone and seeing with how Sam is doing being the Lucifer. I loved the friendship between David and Percy, they were both there when the other needed them. david was the sound a reason Percy needs from time, to time! I hated Percy's twat of a dad. He only cared about himself, and his own image. He didn't car if his son was happy, so long Percy kept up the family name, married right, and produced kids to cary on the family name. It was so great when he got his comupence, go david!

Their happy ending was my favourite so far, and the book was the best so far. It was still funny, but it had a lot more romance than the other books. I can't wait for Dustin's book to come out. The 5 years later scene was just beautiful, the best ending I read in a long time.
SpoilerI can't believe they have a baby, or should I say Dragonnet togther! The birth of their daughter is beautiful, it so made me cry with happiness. I just loved that there was a way for them to have a biological child togther. It's amazing how it can happen. A bit of magic, and some dragon scales, and so long later an egg, then a baby! Can't believe that's how all dragons are born!

I kindly received a ARC from the author and this is my honest review.

Wonderful new series

What an amazing start to a new series, as always it is funny, sexy and full or quirky characters. I would give this 8 out of 5 stars!
