I thoroughly enjoyed this book, as I usually do when reading anything by Kari Gregg. However, as I also usually feel when reading her work, I would have liked this to have been longer and gone deeper into the main relationship. I always feel like I didn't get to spend enough time with the characters, or maybe that the characters aren't that unique. I did love Micah very much, but I have no interest in getting the sequel, especially since this was so thoroughly wrapped up at the end (with the epilogue).
This book has a very high amount of erotic content, which I loved, and there was also a little angst on Micah's part, which I'm always a sucker for. Gregg handled that very well. The writing was also just extremely solid all-around; it was very readable, and Micah's voice was definitely unique when compared to Gregg's other work.
I'd recommend it for readers who like arranged marriage tropes (even if this one doesn't quite qualify) and loving D/s relationships (though Micah's backstory/the beginning of the book is quite dark).

Spoiler
Micah's being mute and having to learn how to talk, and how he grappled with the idea of being the master of a slave when he felt so much like a slave himself was what kept me reading.I'd recommend it for readers who like arranged marriage tropes (even if this one doesn't quite qualify) and loving D/s relationships (though Micah's backstory/the beginning of the book is quite dark).
Loved it. Lot of fun. Good emotion. And well told. I just really, really wish it had been much longer. Especially for the price. 4.50 is a little steep for two-hours reading. But it was an excellent two hours, so I can't get too miffed. Definitely recommend.
A quick read, but I found that the author tried to cram far, far too much into such a short span, so that nothing felt particularly well explained or believable. In fact, between the continually de-humanizing language employed and the brevity, I didn't get a sense of any sort of love so much as Stockholm syndrome. In fact, there's not really a sense of any of the characters in this outside of the most basic traits, i.e., kind savior, suffering prince.
A rather lovely, sexy and sweet story. Eli rocks! It was too short to be alotted 5 stars...they are reserved for epic books!
This is the first of Kari Gregg's works I've read, but I hope it won't be the last. I really liked her writing style, which somehow manages to be spare and very easy to read, yet still manages to fire the imagination. And there's lots of hot sex, which is never a bad thing.
This is really a short and sweet story of the Cinderella variety, with a rather interesting twist at the end (no spoilers from me). It would have been interesting to see the story go on a bit longer to see more of how Micah deals with the twist, but you still assume that it's happily ever after.
The eBook (Kindle ed.) had some minor formating issues; mainly some extra line-endings here and there, although there were a couple of pages near the end that seemed to be out of order.

Well, while the characters were interesting and the concept (Slave is actually the Master) was great - there was way too little plot and background. This story as a novel, with some explaining and worldbuilding and taking in account that Micah has been enslaved and abused for +10 years? It could be so awesome! *sad sigh*
