I enjoyed the mystery. I admired Beatric'sunrelenting quest to find out what happened to her sister.

I know the subject matter is sensitive, but this was so dreary. I found it rather predictable as well.

Gripping, emotional, well-written...and a major disappointment in the last few pages. Of all the possible scenarios (all of which would have worked just fine considering other aspects of the story), the author goes for that single one that I'm not buying at all. Kind of cheapens everything that made me love about the book in first place.

I love stories that slowly unravel the mystery, and this one also gave a bit of a twist. Well written and interesting, although the ending wasn't my most favourite.

This was a re-read for me—I first read it at 16, my first real taste of psychological thriller. And honestly? Just as good the second time around. The suspense is chef’s kiss, and I love how the timeline jumps between past and present using the trial statement to do so.
But beyond the mystery, this book is so emotional. As an older sister, it really hit me—there’s so much about the responsibility you feel to protect your younger siblings, and the overwhelming guilt if something ever happened to them. Had me in tears more than once. Couldn’t recommend it more!

As an older sister, and a mother, I found this a very emotional read. I was frequently in tears. Not an easy book. Hard to put down though. The narrative jumps all over the place in time which is rather difficult to follow at first - but it all comes together in the end. Enjoyed would be the wrong word for my experience of this book but I did appreciate it and would recommend it. I think I will have to lend my copy to my sister first.

I was so confused when I was reading this book because the Bea (the narrator) kept switching between elements of the story, interviews with the judicial inspector, and a letter to her sister all within the same chapter. The ending of this psychological thriller was totally unexpected.
