I was honestly not impressed with this book, I can't put my finger on why it has a lot of same build as the rest of the books. I love how Cormea finds her voice as a women, I love how she is always thinking of the sisters before herself but has a deep longing to understand how she is. I think a lot of women sacrifice themselves to the point where they loose themselves. I think this book has a strong undertone for the voice of a women. There is plenty of sexual tensioon, anger, and killing to book but I may just be getting tired of the same plot line with each book. I will continue on because I hate the idea of series going unfinished but I will chat with a die hard friend about it before I trudge on.

I love how all of these books have had happy endings so far:)
I have felt so bad for Phury in the last couple books and then reading this one I really felt bad for him! but like I said there is always a happy ending so I was so happy for him:) The change he is making for the Chosen is just awesome:) And the end with Zsadist having the baby and came to Phury singing almost had me in tears lol

Im still really interested in Blay and Qhuinn.....and now I cant wait to read more about John and Xhex:)

Ok, so this was not one of my favorites. Phury never really interested me all that much, except I was hoping to learn more about his relationship with Z. So, I really enjoyed the arguments and backstory on the two of them. How they saw each other and their lives, and what they meant to each other. I felt Z did exactly what he needed to do to get Phury the help he needed, as did the Brother's. Only one person can choose to get clean, and that is the person with the addiction. As far as his story went, this was the most I got from it. I am happy that he is making changes for the Chosen. But the Phury/Cormia relationship was very poorly done. Another case of the "I love you" just for the simple reason that they do. They barely interacted with each other until the very end of the book.

This doesn't mean that I don't like Cormia, because I actually felt like she was a great character. Actually showed growth and change for one of the females. Strong yet fragile at the same time. Loved her interactions with John Matthew!

What got me through the book(for the first time!) was the side stories. John Matthew, Quinn & Blay...LOVE. I just love their relationship. The entire scene when Quinn goes after Lash because of what he does to John...so well done. The repercussions for that were horrifying, yet really amazing. Truly brought the boys together, and found a real home for Quinn. Loved the way the King found a way to make it right, and I think Quinn's role is perfect for him. Both scenes between him and Blay were heartbreaking...for different reasons. The first when he was so cruel to Blay and then the second. That kiss, god it made me want them to get together so much!

Tohr, finally back! I know that it won't be an easy road but I hope the he and JM will be able to work through their issues. Xhex, I can't wait for her and JM to get together. Rehv, so ready for his book.

The best part of the book - the end scene of Z singing to Phury. Him and the brother's coming to Phury to ask him to come home to see Nalla. So moving. I honestly feel like Zsadist has some of the most emotionally moving scenes in the series.

I love you forever didn’t always need to be spoken to be understood.

Phury and Cormia actually stole my heart a little…..and after the last book and what happened to Vishous and Jane, I was prepared to not love Phury’s story. I still don’t like the whole “chosen” storyline…..but THAT improved so much toward the end of this book in so many ways thanks to Phury. I also wasn’t a fan of the drug addict storyline dragging on as I feel it could have been resolved and other aspects of Phury and Cormia’s story emphasized. But all that said, the last few pages really had my heart in my throat. So worth the wait.

The narration of these books is exceptional story telling. JR Ward’s intentional sarcastic humor is always a joy. As much as I haven’t enjoyed the last couple of books as much as the first few, I’m still enthralled with the series and am looking forward to the next one.

These books really need to be read in order as one dovetails into the next.

This one was darker. I also felt it was all over the place. We always get all the happenings from different pov’s but this book is messier, with parts I’m not really interested in.
The war is getting old and I know it’s not going anywhere. I’ll keep going because it’s still interesting and captivating, and haven’t begun to skip pages, so that’s good. For now.

I am actually surprised how much I enjoyed returning to these books after 8 years. There's something about the writing. My favourite parts of this book were not about Phury and Cormia though. I much preferred the parts with John Matthew and crew. Even the parts with the lessers were less annoying in this one then I remember from previous installments. I also enjoyed more time with Revhenge and his club.
I wish Phury would have gotten with the picture sooner and saved everyone a bunch of hurt but I thought the treatment of a drug addict was pretty well done. While I understand the purpose of The Wizard it got old and the parts with it were my least favourite to read.
I enjoyed watching Cormia become more of a whole person instead of a dressed in white Chosen. Loved the moments of her learning about the world and her likes and dislikes. Her love of the flowers and her run in the grass was precious. It is sad that all of this was shown to her by JM instead of Phury though. There wasn't the same relationship growth between the two MCs of this book then I would have liked.
All and all I think I will continue the series again, just wish the covers were more out in public friendly!

I have read a lot of romances, and a fair amount of paranormal romance. I am going out on a limb to say this is the best paranormal romance series I've ever read. The plotline is consistent yet varied, and never predictable. The lovers are always well-matched in realistic ways, and driven both together and apart by everything else going on. In the meantime, there's a war going on, people are dying (some of them main characters), and other characters are leaning towards love and romance - or lack thereof.

I feel a little sheepish to rave about a romance series. It is a sad statement that romances are dumb and/or shallow, and yet that is what most of them are. If I say these books are brilliant, believe me. If you think it's impossible, that's because the genre has done itself a disservice. But JR Ward has elevated it.

2.5

So far, so better than I anticipated, given the title and the last couple of books.

I actually can't stop reading these. I thought I'd get bored with so many, but as each brothers lives are so different, you don't feel overwhelmed with the idea the story went too long. I WANT to know what happens to each of them... I loved knowing Phury's story to finding love, battling his demons from the past, and of course his drug addiction. I felt absolutely ecstatic when he went through his changing moment in the Other Side. And I'm feeling JM and Xhex.
An old character makes a comeback much to everyone's surprise. And I'm now left hoping Quinn shuts up and falls for the person who loves him in this book.
