2.5*. I liked that this was more about the relationship than about mafia stuff. All that was kept to a minimum, but there was quite a bit in the beginning about her crush on him when her future was arranged and she was just 11 or 12. I have to say I skimmed that bit, for someone so young it felt like mature emotions and it made me very uncomfortable but it also was boring me. This internal angsting didn't stop there but continued for much of the time, with little couple time till they get married. I got more invested once they got married but it seemed to little too late. Both characters didn't inspire any great emotion either positive or negative.

This clear intersects with Remo/Fina's book, which I haven't read but I'll be moving it up in my tbr pile.

Sofia was constantly comparing herself to serafina and Danilo was obsessing over blond girls. Like get over it already. in overall I didn’t like this book at all

3.5 stars

The premise had a lot of potential, but execution didn’t quite hit the mark for me.

What I liked: Sofia’s perspective during her teen years rang true to me. You know, where as a 16-17 year old you think you’re so grown up, but you’re not. All her insecurities and angst about being the stand-in bride and replacement for her sister felt believable.

What didn’t work for me: about half of the story took place before Sofia turning 18, including
one instance of regrettable sexual activity due to disguises/secret identities
. I know the age-gap trope and being betrothed before she turns 18 is common in mafia romances, but I just wish we got a slightly different timeline.

What also didn’t work for me: Sofia and Danilo spent so much of this book thinking about her sister Seraphina and Remo, the main characters from Twisted Pride. Like, it was practically their personalities. So weird.

And YET! I’m still rating it 3.5 stars because the performances on the audiobook were pretty great. I can always count on Teddy Hamilton.

This was a romantic read. More romance than mafia. However, this is what I truly look for in a mafia romance.
Serafina, once idolized is cast as an outcast after she was kidnapped and birthed, then married her captor. Her sister steps in as her replacement in her arranged marriage. The build up to her marriage to Danilo takes YEARS. I liked how Cora Reilly builds it with some many different events throughout their lives.

The blonde wigs, the sexual tensions, the underboss and mafia ties make this such a good read.

It follows from Sofia as a child to married with Danilo and children. I enjoyed this from start to finish. I truly wish more were written like this. So so good. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was such a great book, that was much better than I expected from reading the blurb and the other books in the series!

I love the age-gap and arranged marriage trope so I was very excited to read this. I was happy when Sofia realized Danilo wasn't everything she had dreamed up in her mind. She has had this child crush on him for years and built him up on a pedestal so i was kinda happy to him fall a little and have to chase her a little. The sexual chemistry between the two is intoxicating and their sex-capades intoxicating.

I have only read Fragile Longing and Sweet Temptation and I know Fragile Longing does connect with some of Cora Reilly's other books as far as characters but I am debating on whether I will read them. Now that I have read this book i've seen that it is recommended to read Twisted Pride first even though Fragile Longing is a standalone.
