I finally got to read my beautiful Fairyloot-edition of Six Crimson Cranes. I really enjoyed it and I'm really looking forward to reading the next one!
this fairytale retelling was a fun read with likable characters, delicate and heartwarming moments between the characters. A really cool feeling of mimsy it gives me a strong studio ghibli vibes. what i didn't like about this book is :
- Seryu, I’m disappointed that he doesn’t really feature much in the book. He gives Shiori a few magic lessons here and there
- Same as her brothers. I wish we got a bit more focus on them since it's called "Six Crimson Cranes"
- I did find it a little predictable. The author revealed hints a little too clearly which is why the rating is not a full 5 stars.

Most of this book was very fun and well done but there is about an hour toward the end where the main character suddenly becomes the biggest dummy of a character that I have ever read. She make Darrow look like a fucking genius. Again 12 out of the 12 hours of this book are really good but that one hour really tanked it for me. I’m gonna give the second book a shot and hope for no sudden strokes of stupidity 🫡

No world building AT ALL, the writing was just tell and not show, the MC was insufferable and all her actions were just to make the plot go forward (and the fact that she has a BOWL stuck on her head just made all of it worst)
