Fun retelling of a few old norse stories. Interesting to see the similarities with other mythology. Great narration by the author.

Listened to the audiobook on a road trip. Neil Gaiman is a master storyteller.

I did not begin this book knowing I would become obsessed with Loki the eternal headache of the gods, but that's what happened. Tom Hiddleston portrayal or no, Loki was never my favorite of the Marvel Norse gods...but I must say, the truer version of them all makes Loki that much more compelling. The tales of giants and dwarves and elves and Thor happily murdering countless people and monsters were all equally entertaining and interesting for a mythology lover like myself. Will happily be storing this alongside my Edith Hamilton book of Greek myths.

This was an enjoyable listen. I love listening to Neil Gaiman read anything but especially the way he uses different voices - they are always enjoyable. I wish I knew more about these myths and the lengths he went through to get these stories. They still have the myth style - where we don't necessarily know everything about these characters, but they teach us some things - my favorite being the reason why salmon have a smaller body where it meets the tail. Delightful.

This was the best version of what it could be but not really my cup of tea.

Really fun interpretations, and always enjoyable to listen to NG read his books himself. Fun stories to listen to while doing stuff around the house or zipping around town.

I have been reading a lot of Thor comics lately and really love Rick Riordan's Magnus Chase series so I was very happy to hear Neil Gaiman was writing a book about Norse mythology. I've really wanted to learn more about the gods, the nine realms and Ragnarok. Gaiman is such an incredible story teller - and I really love listening to him narrate in the audiobook version. These stories are funny, adventurous and thrilling. They don't always have a moral and only sometimes explain things like why we have earthquakes - and I really liked that. I also found it interesting how these stories have inspired so many other stories I love like Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Game of Thrones. Gaiman tells these stories in a way only he can and my only problem with this book was that it wasn't longer!

This book was not what I was expecting. I went in thinking this would be a more academic-approach style book, but it’s Norse mythology with a modern day language to it. It was still a fun read and I really enjoyed it. If you’re a Marvel fan it is fun to see how Thor’s comic adventures were inspired by the legends.

Odin: "Boys, we have a problem"
Loki: "I guess I'll turn into an animal of some sort and fix it."
Thor: "Me smash!"
That was it. It was great. 7.5/10
