I started this book, but had a hard time getting into it so I put it aside for quite a while. I'm glad I picked it up again! I ended up enjoying this cute, quirky story and think that my girls will like it too once they are a bit older. I loved the premise of the book so much that I was able to overlook some of the issues I had with the execution.

This was my first read for Jodi Picoult and to be honest, it was not what I expected as I have read a lot of positive reviews on her works. Maybe this book would be perfect for those fairytale people but it was not just for me. I hope not all of JD's books are like this one.

Went into this knowing it was a YA book but it felt very young

I love that she wrote this book with her daughter but I wish the ending was a little more flushed out.

Actual rating: 2.5 stars.

It was a cute premise, amazing illustrations, and a somewhat interesting plot. I enjoyed reading this book. But, when it comes to rating it, I have to deduct points because, looking back, it's not a terribly well-written book. The characters are all very flat, the high school situations seem cliche and unrealistic, and the ending was a little unbelievable for me.

If you're interested in reading this book, I'd say go for it. It's entertaining. But don't expect a particularly well developed novel.

Pretty good! Between the Lines wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either.

I really loved it!! It was a little strange how it was arranged and that it talked about living inside a book and us viewers looking in but I still loved it :)

Jodi is one of my favorite authors but this was kinda a disappointment. I liked it if I only looked at it as a YA novel but if I look at it through knowing Jodi Picoult then its not the best.
The characters are only ok. I love the character of Oliver - he is old fashiened and his character stayed that way throughout the whole book which is a really good thing. The other main character - Delilah was poorly written. It seemed like all she really cared about was herself and it really hurt her.
The plot wasn't really there. I see the concept and I love the concept but I believe that it could have been so much more substance. This might be because I am so used to her adult novels and how much depth they have. The ending was horrible! I like what happened but then its just ended.. there are so many things that are not finished! I hate when authors do that. I understand they want to leave somethings to the imagination but there are so many unanswered questions.

In all it was totally worth reading but I will probally not read it again.

Loved this YA novel written by Jodi Picoult and her daughter! Although it's YA, it could be read by middle grade readers as there is nothing in the book other than some kissing. The story is every reader's fantasy. What if when you close the book, the characters are still alive and living out their own story? When a teenage girl reads a children's fairytale she finds in her school's library, she believes that the Prince, Oliver, can see her and talk with her. The story progresses as she and Oliver get closer and she tries to find a way for him to get out of the book and enter her world. But, is she really hearing him or is she just crazy? It's a creative fun story that anyone who's ever loved a character in a book will appreciate! Looking forward to reading the sequel to the book Off the Page. I listened to the audiobook version of this book and loved the two narrators!
