Grind is the second part of Cal and Macy's story by Sawyer Bennett, and this one picks up right after where we left off in Clash. Make sure you start there first if you haven't already read that one. You do not need to have read Matt and Mac's story in the Legal Affairs series, though I am sure that it would give a bit more insight into these characters. I haven't had any problems not having read those yet though, but I will definitely be reading them in the future.

Cal and Macy never got along, despite having a mutual best friend. But after a passionate hook-up, the two began to want more from each other. Macy doesn't do relationships, though she is willing to be monogamous with Cal as long as things are strictly physical. But Cal is looking for more, and he wants to give things a shot with Macy. There is much to Macy that Cal doesn't know though, and she is determined to keep it that way. But can Cal grind Macy down to the point that she is willing to give them a shot and start to reveal some of her secrets to him?

I liked Macy much better in this installment than I did in the first. For some reason with her diary entries in Clash, she came off a bit crazy to me. She was much better this time around though, and we got to see a more vulnerable side to her. She clearly has a lot of pain in her past with some of her thoughts and feelings, and I am really wanting to know more. What happened to make her the way she is? Cal was a bit all over the place in this installment, which was a shame since I really loved him in the first book. I had a tough time figuring out what he wanted when he seemed to kind of flip flop the whole way through. I can tell that he likes being with Macy physically, but then at times he also seems to want more in their relationship. However then he would also say he wasn't in love with her and that she wasn't the type of woman that he would ever love because of how she is. So I am just a little confused with these two and where things are headed. The one thing that is clear though, is that these two are super hot together and they connect physically in a way that they don't with others. Though they have pushed each other a bit, they seem to really understand each other when it comes to their desires.

I have to say that I am slightly confused with this serial. I really thought that these two would have had a bit more banter between them considering how much they couldn't stand one another at first. They started off with every encounter between them ending with them verbally sparring, and now they don't at all. It just seems a bit odd to me that there wasn't any kind of transition when it came to that. All of a sudden they are just friends who sleep together and no longer seem to have that spark or tension that they did before when it comes to them outside the bedroom. I am curious to see what happens next, especially after where we left off here. But I have to say that overall this serial has been kind of disappointing and isn't what I had expected.

Grind is the second installment of Sawyer Bennett's new Legal Affairs serial. Clash left off with Macy offering herself up to Cal. He tried to say no, even did a few times, but he can't stay away. The sex is too good. Macy is too hot. But, he's representing her legally and he won't cross that line with a client. They make a deal to wait until the case is over. I love that this is really a dual POV serial. You get to see a hint inside of Macy via her diary. She's hurting and hiding something. Cal is hilarious, sexy and hot! They make a deal to keep seeing each other in secret and the sex is off the charts good. Some of the best scenes I have read in a while. Probably since my last Sawyer book! Cal knows that he could easily have feelings for her and when he finally sees past her snark and sass he sees sadness and secrets. Macy starts to let herself relax and just be with Cal. Something about him is different and she's different when she's with him. The pain is less, she's more in control. But, something threatens to end their affair before it's really begun. Will Cal push to help her? Can Macy tell him the truth and finally let someone into her heart? I can't wait to find out!!

I'm already addicted to it, and I've only had a few hits. She has the magical ability to suck me in deep to where I may never be able to claw my way out.

"You and Macy are not friends," Mac says with a snort.
I wince.
I'm so not good at this lying shit.
Nope. Not friends. That's for sure.
We're more…fuck budies.
Yeah, that's it.

"And…be forewarned…I'm a cuddler," I add on with a wink.
"Oh, God," she moans dramatically as she wrinkles her nose in distaste. "What have I gotten myself into?"

HOLY HOT!!! This little trilogy sure packs a lot into 12 hours!!! I loved their story, I loved how amazingly HOT they were together and I loved the story line... I loved it all! Cal & Macy are opposite of almost every book I've read this year and that just made it even better. I would have to say 100% Hot, 75% romantics/sweet and 75% gripping plot, what more could you want! The narration was perfect too!

Good Lord, have mercy. If I thought Clash was hot? This is beyond sizzling! Holy crap, every time Cal & Macy are together? Everything just explodes. That swingers club scene. Jesus Christ. I do not even know what I'm going to feel. I hate Macy for letting Cal go through with that. But I love Cal all the more for doing anything for Macy—knowing deep down that she needs it that's why he did it. For her. I feel so bad for whatever Macy went through before. I think I have an inkling to what it is, but I'm still not so sure. I know she has demons. She's haunted every day, but it seems like Cal is her saving grace. But she doesn't believe that she can still be saved. A man like Cal is someone who can seriously bring you to your knees. Kinky, intense and playful sex? Check. Sweet and romantic? Check. Protective and loyal? Check. Smart? Heck yes, check. He's a man who will do anything and everything for someone he cares for. And I so deeply admire him for that. He's almost close to perfect. He's even a freaking cuddler! Sweet baby Jesus. What more can you ask for? There's a part of me that believes he is indeed good for Macy. That he can pull her out of the darkness she's drowning in. They were making so much progress! I was so happy with all this, even I started to hope. But then what happens in the end cuts all that progress they made and leaves Macy no choice but to completely pull back from him. Cal has been warned both by Mac and Matt even from the very beginning—that he has to tread carefully with Macy. They believe he's not built to hurt Macy. But Macy has the capability to actually destroy and shatter him.

I just hope May 5th comes by in a flash. I can't wait to see what really is haunting Macy and what the hell happened to her that made her the way she is. Why she so desperately believes that she is unlovable and doesn't deserve any good at all. I want to know so much that reading Yield will be the only thing to give me the peace of mind I need with this series. With all that happened at the end of Grind, with Cal left hanging and all alone, I need to know what's the next move he's going to make. How is he going to salvage whatever relationship he has with Macy? Is he really willing to go through all that and still be with her? Will he insist on being by Macy's side after he learns whatever deep dark secret Macy is hiding? Oh God. All these damn questions! My head was definitely left spinning after reading this book. Sawyer Bennett, I definitely have to start reading your other books. ~Renery, 5 stars

Speechless… Like seriously I'm at a lost for words. Forget 50 Shades of Grey, this book surpasses every boundary I ever thought I would cross. Words like fantastic and fu&%IN# amazing will not do its justice. The creative writing is not only spontaneous but surprising.

Bring it on Ms. Bennett, I am impressed. Macy is lost but perfect. Cal, well he is just your typical male…kinda.

Lust turns to…well lust…turns to well…LUST.

Good god ladies.

Draw your own conclusions ;) xx ~Joanna, 5 stars

ARC received for an honest review

Grind starts up right where Clash finishes, so you will need to have read the novella first.

This series just keeps on getting better and better.

There is a pretty fine line between love and hate, and Cal and Macy seem to be blurring that line. These frenemies are slowly but surely becoming more to each other.

They have been pushing each other's boundaries since they decided to do the sexy time thing. Their "friends with benefits" is seeing them actually becoming friends now! We are learning more and more about why Macy is the way she is. Saint Cal is breaking down her walls, and they are starting to develop real feelings for each other.

Did I mention that together they are hot? I mean steam up the windows H.O.T! Phew, I am still fanning myself.

Cal doesn't want to keep their "arrangement" secret, but does for Macy. Though they are not very good at keeping it hidden, as Mac and Matt are onto them. You know secrets never lead anywhere good, right?

The end of this book does leave us on a cliffhanger, but we only have a couple of weeks before book 3, Yield comes out, so I guess it won't be tooooo bad waiting... oh heck, who am I kidding, I need to know now what is going to happen!

First, author made it way to obvious what Macy’s secret was, when Macy had lunch with her mother and she got disgusted and left when Uncle arrived was too obvious.

Also, Disappointed, book was overload of sex scenes without enough story line.

Moving on to Yield.
