I did not know this book was what it was. It came as a bonus book with a Debbie Macomber one. They don't write the same. At all.

The way the hero and heroine, Scott and Jamie, so easily step into their “secret” affair is kind of wonderful. Of course, due to the fact that she’s his boss, they both have some internal struggles. But their chemistry and pull toward one another is just too strong and they don’t really question it once it all starts. Their attraction is such that all those around them seem to feel it even when Jamie and Scott are not even interacting with each other.
Scott was not a favorite of mine in the first book, Heat Exchange. While I totally understand the brother/best friend aspect that he was dealing with, he was still a hot head with a short fuse. It was great to see the maturity he’s acquired after seeing his best friend and sister find their HEA, as well as dealing with his other sister’s marital ups and downs. A lot of times it’s the fact that the right woman has come along that settles the notorious bachelor down. Not so in this story. Scott had already realized he wanted to change his ways, that it was time. I found that very sweet.
I enjoyed getting the female view of being a firefighter…especially a female officer. Of course, I love the guys at this particular firehouse and they were all great. But it was also good to have a few conversations where some admitted they weren’t sure what to expect but that Jamie showed them she’s just like one of the guys when it comes to doing her job. And although she was treated quite fairly, I’m glad she recounted some past incidents she had to deal with so the reader could get all aspects of being a female in a male dominated field.

Scott Kincaid is tired of being a ladies man. He sees his sisters and best friends settling down and he realizes that he wants that too. He wants the wife and kids. So he's decided to stop all the meaningless hook-ups and take a break from dating, hoping this will clear his mind in order to find his future Mrs. When Jamie Rutherford is temporarily assigned as Lieutenant of Boston's Engine 59 Firehouse, Scott knows he needs to look the other way. But he can't help the attraction and chemistry between the two.
Jamie feels the same things for Scott, and besides for professional reasons, her time is extremely limited with Engine 59. She doesn't want to start something she feels will end as quickly as it began. Chemistry proves too much for these two to overlook, and they decide that having fun right now is all that should matter. Will they be able to keep their relationship when things take a serious turn?
For whatever reason, I connected more with Jamie and Scott than with Rick and Jess from [b:Controlled Burn|25125233|Controlled Burn (Boston Fire, #2)|Shannon Stacey|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1435813389s/25125233.jpg|44821176]. Don't really know why, it's just the way these things work out for some reason. I felt this was a different spin on the whole "office romance" trope since our characters are not in a typical office setting, working as firefighters and everything, but I quite liked it. I thought that heat factor and chemistry between Jamie and Scott was ratcheted quite a bit compared to what I remember in Controlled Burn.
The real connection between Scott and Jamie is undeniable and both of their reservations about starting a relationship are completely valid. The only thing that was off for me about this book was the "after effects" of the conflict. Readers know from the beginning about the time limit on Jamie's stay at Engine 59 - although to be honest this too feels extremely over exaggerated seeing as how even though she will leave Engine 59, Jamie still lives in Boston, she's not moving cross country. But I digress, I feel like there's this big build up for this inevitability. When it happens I wanted to more of what happens after before we get the conclusion. I felt like this was skimmed over and then we're right at the conclusion. I would have liked a little more balance.
Overall, though, I found any quibbles I might have to be quite minor in the grand scheme of things. I really enjoyed this read and I think if you've read Shannon Stacey's books before you'll enjoy this one too. If this is the first time you're picking up one of her books, this one stands on its own nicely, but it will probably make you want to go back and read the other books in the series.

There wasn't anything particularly wrong with this book, it just didn't pull me in as much as the others. As always, good plot. The writing gets better and better with every book, but there were still a few clunky moments. Overall, a good book.

DNFed at 16%. It’s not that bad, I’m just turning into a bitch these days. Life’s feeling too short for books I don’t adore and this one.... well so far we’ve had a whole lot of women in the background who are incredibly traditional — glowing with pregnancy, bitching mother in laws, stay at home moms, and a new bride (who was the heroine of the prior novel) treating her husband like she’s his parent & he has the sense of a 6 year old.
Now, there’s nothing wrong with traditional. But that’s not what I thought I was getting with this.
Then the heroine wound up in a small bar fight she was perfectly able to handle herself, but before she gets the chance, the hero wades in to ‘defend’ her when it’s none of his damn business; and, the heroine doesn’t get pissed at him at all for this.
Fuck it. I don’t need alpha men. All that plus there’s a whole bunch of insta-lust fogging their minds AND she’s scared of driving the fire truck in the streets of Boston.
Noping out. If you enjoyed it though, all power to you.

Fully Ignited was hot, tender, a bit complicated and very sweet.
One of the things I loved the most in Fully Ignited was the innuendos made with food... And I got at least two great quotes for future Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts posts thanks to the sexiness of those. Both Jamie and Scott were great characters to follow in their adventures as firefighters, and it was refreshing to see a female LT, who was strong, confident and very competent. Neither of them wanted a romance at the workplace, though, but their attraction proved impossible for them to resist. However, Jamie's job with Scott's company was temporary, and so would their forbidden romance be.
I also really enjoyed that Fully Ignited included characters from prior Boston Fire stories, it was great to catch up with Scott's sisters, the other firefighters and their families. Between the fast pace of everything work-related, the slower pace and the evident chemistry between Jamie and Scott in their personal space made the story really good. There was excitement when they went out on a job, and there was combustible hotness when they were alone together.
Another thing that was well done was that Jamie was a woman in a very male-dominated work-place, and she had to play by certain rules in order to keep the respect of her fellow firefighters. Seeing her interactions with her team showed that she was very good at her job, however, and I enjoyed how she fit right in with the guys, even if there were some adjustments for them to make so that she could be as comfortable as possible when she was at work.
Written in third person point of view, past tense, Fully Ignited also included dialogues that showed the various characters' personality, and there was both humor and some sarcasm as well as very sexy innuendos that kept me immersed in the story from start to finish.
The hard punch of sexual attraction had taken him by surprise with its intensity, but it was more than that. She had an air of calm confidence that intrigued him - like she was a woman who really had her sit together - and that was something he must find attractive because he'd thought about her more than a few times in the last twenty-four hours.
It wasn't a home, though, and he wondered if that's what was nagging at him. Was it stuff that made a home? Or was it the wife and kids he didn't have? He was only twenty-seven, so he wasn't sure why he felt such a strong desire to finally settle down, but he couldn't deny it was there.
"I'd love to come up and share your chocolate pudding," Scott said. "I've worked up an appetite."

This book was a fun, sexy, sweet 4 star read. I loved all the different relationships in this book so much. It was nice to be able to get into the firefighting world a little more. I also really liked that Jaime was the superior and they way that they handled their relationship in a mature and drama free way. This book is my favorite so far in the series.
My Thoughts
We get to learn more about Scott in this book. From the other books in the series we have learned that he is a little bit of a playboy, a major hot head and mouthwatering hot. We also learned that he is tired of dating all the wrong women and is ready to settle down a little and find what the guys call his "TV wife", you know the "Wife in the aprons and pearls, making dinner while helping the kids do their homework. Meeting him at the door with his slippers and all that." I really liked Scott he was a good guy, a great friend and an amazing brother not only to his family but his Firefighter family.
Jaime Rutherford is the new temporary lieutenant of Engine 59, and a woman. I was originally worried that her being a woman was going to be a more sexist issue in the book, but was incredibly happy that all the guys she worked with respected her and treated her no different. It was refreshing to see in a book. I loved Jaime. She was a kickass woman, but was still respected and had a killer sense of humor. She was able to balance her work and life with an enviable ease.
When these two first met at the firehouse sparks flew off the page. From that first meeting the chemistry was off the charts and as much as they tried to ignore the attraction it just seemed to keep growing. So they do what any rational mature grownups would do... Not fight it any longer. I really enjoyed their relationship and even more when the whole family found out. I was a lot mad and disappointed in Scott for pushing Jamie away in the worst (non-cheating) way possible, but communication issues were my only real hangup with this story. I loved every aspect of it. My favorite parts were when they were hanging out around the fire house or going on calls. You really got to feel like you were a part of the crew and that was amazing. I highly recommend picking up this fun, sexy and smart romance.

I've loved the whole series. I really like the turnabout in this one with Jamie being a firefighter too. I love that she was tough, smart & successful at her job, but also warm, fun and connectable as a woman. Fun to see Scotty find his HEA where he least expected it.
