I have finally finished this book. Sort of....I just couldn't stand it anymore. It hurt to read. And not in a good way.

It's taken me a week to finish, which is a very long time since I gobble up books in 2-3 days max. And the fact that I finished another book, while reading Come to Me Softly, says alot. What can I say? This book was painfully slow. I couldn't deal with the constant repetition (we get it Jared, you've been through shit and you feel like crap and you feel like you don't deserve anything. We. Get. It.), the snail like pace, and the borderline unhealthy relationship of Aly and Jared.

First thing's first. Why does it take 5 chapters to go over just ONE day after the first book left off. Not to mention that all that was said could have been summed up into 2 chapters, one in each character's POV. We get it. Jared came back. Aly's happy. Jared feels unworthy (90%of the book talks about his unworthiness) and they're sex-crazed.

Skip ahead to the thanksgiving massacre, the house, and the engagement, I began to see how fast these two were moving. Both of them were ignoring Jared's underlying problems. How does Aly deal with them? Doesn't say anything to Jared. How does Jared deal with them? He puts them on a back burner and buries himself in Aly's pregnant vagina. I felt like their whole relationship is built on the fueling lust that they have for each other. Every other page explores how much they want each other and need to touch each other. I mean come on!

Another thing that bothered me was Jared's use of Aly. His portrayal of her. I felt like he put her on his pedestal as this shiny new toy that he played with but didn't want to break. It was like she was his dessert that he could have, even though he'd been a bad boy. Her sex is what kept him 'sane'. Unhealthy much?

And is just me or do hey just love each other too much? And what the hell was the point of Gabe? Like seriously, his character did not need to be there. He's wasted space.

I'm really disappointed in this book. The first was way better. I gave it double the stars. I thought this second installment would've been a great continuation, but instead it was a horrible one.

But I wouldn't mind a book on Christopher. A story on him and his journey on finding love. I"d definitely read that :)

When I first started reading this book, I hadn't known it was a sequel. Which is entirely my fault, I should've done my research. No matter, I went and got the first in the series and read it. I'll admit I was disappointed and it didn't bode well for me regarding this book.
Like the one before it, this book also made me feel like the story was being dragged out. Actually, harsh as it may sound, the whole book felt redundant and unnecessary. If the Jackson had decided to add the last 30% of this book onto the first, it would've made for a better, stronger story. Because at the end of the day, I did enjoy the premise of this book, just not the execution.
She really does have a way with words though and I did feel there were more dialogue this time around. But they were so bogged down by the character's inner thoughts that I either found myself skipping to them or losing track of what was being said. Certain sentences and phrases kept popping up, over and over, to the point it got annoying. This mostly happened in Jared's POV and they were carried over from the first book, which made it worst. His constant self hate and feelings of unworthiness also got exhausting after a point (in the first book, mind you). It tainted everything. Like I get it, you're trying to emphasis a point, but can we please move on with the plot? Can we see him growing from it? Recovering from it? You know, learning to move on. Instead, all that growth is shoved into the very end of this two-parter.
Nothing really happens in beginning or middle of this book aside from him clinging to Aly like a lifeline, a decision he made at the end of the first book. There was so much fluff, I was bored. But that might tie back to me not connecting with the characters. It was a struggle just to even pick up this book, if I'm honest. So why did I keep going? Because I went out of my way to buy the first book so I could read this one. Because I wanted to like it. But in the end, I was just disappointed. Twice.
With such high ratings on both books here on Goodreads, I can only assume that this series isn't for me. Or maybe AL Jackison's writing style isn't for me. I don't know, maybe another book by her will change my mind. I just know it'll be a while before I read something from her again.

This book was as amazing as the first. Jared and Aly's story and relationship was an honor to watch unfold and blossom. This was a great ending to a fantastic story. I can't wait to read Come To Me Recklessly and find out about Aly's brother, Christopher!

Oh Jared...

My heart bleeds for that young boy, who loved his baby for his whole life. I knew your mom would give you your lil rose back. Just perfect!!!

Wow. At first I thought "why write another book about Jared and Aly?" But as I read on... I just knew it was needed.

Stayed up all night reading this beautiful but sad continuation of their story. Oh and the ugly cry.... Damn it! Lol... I'm going to sleep now but I know I will wake up with puffy eyes.. it was worth it.

So, read this book in less than 3 hours. Crazy that I finished both the first and second book of the series in less than half a day. It isn't often that I get pulled into a book and can reading it in pretty much one sitting, but I did with these books.

*I received an ARC through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Come to Me Softly begins the morning after Come to Me Quietly ended. WARNING: If you have not read the first in the series, please do not read this review. It will spoil it for you no matter how much I don't want to!

So Jared is now back in Aleena's arms three months after he left her. He loves her and knows he will never leave her again. The problem is not how he feels about her (or the unborn child he found out the night before Aleena is carrying), but how he feels about himself. On the outside it looks like he's happy and has left his demons behind, but he's still drowning in guilt and shame. If he doesn't come to terms with what happened in the past and move on from it, his relationship with Aleena will not last.

I loved both Aleena and Jared. I love them even more together. You know they are meant to be together, but fear that once all the guilt and shame comes out, they won't be able to deal with it. I knew it was just a matter of time for Jared to explode. Of course, at the end, they handled it pretty well and were able to move on from it. You can definitely feel the connection and love between these two characters, so it was great to see them get their HEA!

Come to Me Softly was a well-written emotional read. Most of the story was a little slow and the character's thoughts became repetitive at one point as well as too descriptive for my taste, so I admit to skimming some parts.

Overall, I really liked it. It was angsty and tears were definitely shed. I really enjoyed Aly and Jared's story. Can't wait to read Come to Me Recklessly!!

Perfection

Ahhh... Where to start? The emotions that this book brought out in me were unreal. A. L. Jackson has this uncanny ability to make me cry. Every. Single. Time!
This story is beautiful. A perfect combination of love, drama, happiness and heartbreak. The tears were not just of sadness, but also of joy. This story is one of my favourites from A. L. Jackson. This woman writes the most beautiful books. The descriptive word is sheer brilliance. She is able to clearly implant the images, feelings and emotions into your imagination. That is just one of the reason she will always be one of my favourite author's.
I loved how this story is written from both Jared and Aly's perspective. The flashbacks are always written in third party, giving you the sense of detachment from the main storyline, and also allowing you see more from the supporting characters. I think this always gives a deeper insight, almost like watching a snippet of one of their home movies. The
All in all this book hit the spot for me. It is perfectly written and beautifully balanced.
