3.5 stars - I've been reading a lot of reviews of this story, and it seems books 2 and 3 may be better. I have to say, super interesting concept, and I think it's interesting that it's set multiple generations after a world disaster. Usually, the stories are set at the time of the disaster, so it's cool to see the vision of the future and how people become disconnected from each other. I really liked the writing style - fast-paced and, I feel, accurate for a teenager.

Also, I love the dog.

I read this book several years ago and what sticks out in my memory is that the author used the words 'body' and 'flesh' so often that I started an actual tally chart to track their occurrence.

3.5/5

This book was one of the worst books that I have read this year. The premise sounded promising and the writing flowed. However for a book to be about a world with zombies, there was basically no zombies the first half of the book. Instead we had the main character Mary bemoan everything. Mary was one of the least likable main characters that I have read about. The love triangle was at first nonexistent, then rather sad, and then just completely changed. I felt that I was reading a different love story that just was unbelievable. Another main problem was the world building was confusing and some things never explained. I am torn whether this was a one star or a two star review. Maybe a 1.5. Apparently the movie rights have been bought for this book, hopefully the screen play will be vastly different then the book.

I like Carrie Ryan's take on zombies. It actually makes you think about the people they once were and feel for what they've lost. I like how her story was realistic in many aspects, though I do not understand how Mary could've possibly survived a bajillion zombie attacks. I also don't like how two guys ALWAYS have to fight over the heroine, while her best friend, though obviously more attractive, gets no one. But I guess that's what makes it interesting. I also think she should've made Harry sound more appealing and attractive. Because seriously, I imagined him to be kinda fat with weird facial hair and an ugly ponytail. Ew. I really did want him to be hot! Sad.

I really disappear into books when I'm reading and I really feel like I can sympathize with the characters. And this book really made me feel that pinch that I always feel when emotionally overwhelmed. I guess I really felt the pain, the hopeful sorrow and that big jumble and conflict of emotions going on inside every one of the characters. Even the dog. HAHA. I liked how "The Forest of Hands and Teeth" made me realize how truly blessed I am. It gave me newfound appreciation for life, and has opened my eyes to beautiful things I never knew were there before.

Overall, it's a good book. I think I want to read "The Dead-Tossed Waves" now. I think I'll like Gabry a lot more.

Jag vet inte om det beror på översättningen eller inte, men den här boken var inte särskilt bra skriven... Intressant grundidé dock.

I totally loved this! The style was a bit difficult to get into, but I totally dig Mary's craziness, Travis' sweetness, Harry's loyalty and Jed's good guy-ness. Ok, ran out of descriptions.
Very, very creepy! Totally kept me intrigued the whole time.

There is a sequel, right?
