This is such a cute story. Instant love & miscommunication are not my favorites but it’s done really well here. I love how Macon falls so hard so fast the moment he meets Brooklyn. The background of his we get at the beginning only enhances his quick transformation. And boy does he meet his match with Brooklyn. She wouldn’t give him the time of day and his pursuit of her is one I adored. This is super spicy from the get go and I understand why Marni Mann is one of the queens of spice. This book lived up to the reputation.

Love seeing a playboy fall first!! Macon and Brooklyn were very tight with their siblings and I adored that. It helped to create a stronger bond.

The Playboy is the first book in The Spade Hotel series, but it can be read as a standalone.
Macon had been in a serious relationship, but his girlfriend didn’t feel the same way. She broke his heart, and he decided to just sleep around, never forming any attachments. But when he goes to a club, he sees a woman who captures his attention, and he can’t get her out of his head.
It was love at first sight for Macon, but the mystery woman, Brooklyn, didn’t give in so easily. He had to work to convince her to give him a chance, but he was very persistent.
Brooklyn was a great character. She was strong and independent; she was a student and working so she could pay for her share of rent, groceries, etc. The whole thing where she was living in Kauaʻi and how it was so expensive – one hundred percent accurate.
I was a little mad at Macon’s reaction to Brooklyn’s secret, because he just wasn’t seeing things from her point of view. He also had a secret he was keeping, and he didn’t tell her, but he expected her not to be mad.
Anyway, they did have great chemistry, and I loved how Brooklyn always made him work for it.

I love this world and I love being back with these characters! I loved Macon's back story and I loved how Brooklyn swooped in and blew everything Macon thought and felt out of the water. I could honestly listen to these stories again and again. They're fast paced, entertaining and just fun! I loved seeing glimpses of the characters from The Dalton Family series, though you do not need to read/listened to them to love this story. Tor Thom and Savannah Peachwood were the perfect Macon and Brooklyn and brought this story to life! Another great listen by Marni!

Damn, Macon Spade! Not only is this man smart and sexy in his business persona but he is also hot, intense and naughty when he's with the beautiful, smart, sexy and fierce, Brooklyn Bray. Their chemistry is so combustive that made me yearn for more of these two.
The book has the usual plot of a billionaire playboy meeting a woman who brings him to his knees to have her but with a touch of Maid in Manhattan. I also enjoyed Macon's pursuit of Brooklyn at the beginning and loved how his fixation with Brooklyn changed from his skirt-chaser lifestyle to a dedicated and committed lover. The cameos from the characters of the Dalton Series were also a delight, as well as the introduction of the rest of the Spade brothers.
If you're into possessive, obsessive billionaires with a bit of angst, you can give this book a try. I think it's a good one to kick off the Spade Hotel series.
"...I'd never thought I'd be the man who fell first. I'd never thought I'd be the guy waiting for the woman to express her feelings first after I'd already voiced mine. But here I was; I had no shame or regret. I didn't give a fuck how much shit my friends and brothers gave me about stalking the club or being obsessed with her or pointing out that I was pussy-whipped. They were right. I was. Because Brooklyn was worth it. She was everything I'd never known I wanted." - Macon Spade
