I very much enjoyed Harry’s story, especially the frozen penis bit.

I am not a royal watcher and didn't even know he was getting married, or who Megan Markle was before it was splashed all over the tv a couple of years ago. That said, I have always had an affinity for Prince Harry because he was not the typical royal both in looks and demeanor. It was obvious, from a young age, that he went his own way.
I was, therefore, surprised and somewhat horrified, by he 'institution's' inner workings and the duplicitous nature of this family. He really didn't hold anything back. I appreciated that in this book. I am a big fan of memoirs read by their authors and this one did not disappoint (although there was a little too much muck-raking at times).

I listened to the Audiobook for this one, with the Author as the narrator. This is the perspective of someone who lost their Mum at a young age, living within the confines of a system that from birth instructs you how to live. He tells of the privileges that being a part of a Royal family have given him and acknowledges this all the way through. He also consistently expresses his love for his family and those that have shown him love and support throughout his life. He understandably has no love for the media or any organisation that has impacted on the restrictions and trauma both himself and those close to him have endured. I have been very conscious of not reading any of the stories in the magazines or online about him and his wife since they have been together. I was a follower of Markle on instagram prior to her meeting Harry. She did display a sense of social justice and down to earth qualities that he talks about in the book. His values throughout the book appear to be quite genuine and I can definitely see the impact both his parents have had on him. It is worth the read/listen. He is also quite the narrator and I enjoyed listening to him. It gave the stories more brevity coming from his mouth.

This book really does show you that trauma, family issues, mental health difficulties don't discriminate against status. I've always felt that Harry is misunderstood, and doesn't fit into the royal family. I'm not a royalist by any means but was so interested to hear about his life. I lost interest around half way, but it soon peaked again. I'm glad I listened to this on audio otherwise I think it would've taken me a lot longer to finish.

I don't rate memoirs because they're very subjective. This one was interesting, and I enjoyed hearing from Prince Harry's perspective but at times this book just felt petty. Certain things seemed so minor and yet private that it made me cringe that he, a grown man, was bringing it up. Examples: his grandfather saying his beard wasn't very thick and his dad having carried a teddy bear into adulthood. Those weren't critical to the story and just seemed like he was trying to shame his family members even for minute things when there were PLENTY of more major issues to be discussed.
