Warped is a good read full of fantasy and adventure. Within this book, you will find unicorns, witches, and of course, magic.

Segments of this book held unique qualities. The magic, for example, was unlike anything I have read. The concept of fate being woven by a group of witches is utterly intriguing.

Unfortunately, like many other books, I could not get into the romance. The relationship between Tessa and Will developed at a rapid pace, which made it come across a bit forced. I would have also liked to see more world building with a story like this.

I had higher hopes for this YA novel than what I got. It had so many great ideas with so many imaginative places to go. The author takes the 3 Fates (Norn), witchcraft, elements of time-travel, liberties with unicorn lore and the tapestries of the hunt and combined them all to create a wonderful adventure.

However, here are my grumbles. We take these elements and turn them into teeny bopper, generic romance and use corny humor through out the story. This bothered me Immensely. The seriousness of what happened to William when captured by the gray lady, the life she stole from him as well as the serious situation Tess was in was all downplayed by silliness. I would have rather had a bit more seriousness to the story along with a bit more dark and sinister tone to a story dealing with the fates and an evil witch. It's insulting to teens to feel you have to do this. This was a story that could have appealed to boys as well, had it not so blantantly been aimed at teen girls. Tess and her friend Opal were irritating on several occasions. I felt william was pretty good, would have liked more on his story and the fates were well done. I am giving this 2 stars on the originality of using something completely different and weaving a great concept together. The rest should have been handled better.

Really good. I wasn't so sure, and if you aren't either, just know- it is so worth it! It's original and well-written, and the characters are likable. Tessa was very funny, and so was Will! Loved them

I absolutely loved the last chapter and the epilogue. The former because it was the perfect ending to this great book, and the latter because it hinted at a possible sequel (which is, quite honestly, driving me mad)

BEST THING: Okay, this is kinda weird, but I LOVED the Tessa's real name - Tesseract. I love the Madeleine L'Engle books and I thought that this fit so well, especially with all of the time-warp aspects.

I thought that this was a good, easy read. I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that I wasn't sure that this was something that I wanted to read. It ended up being a thoughtful book that made me smile. The writing was easy, a good lazy Sunday read for me. I think that might have been my only letdown with this novel. I think that if it had been slightly more polished, it would have been a much better read. There were a couple of awkward phrases and transitions that made it hard for me to follow the story.

I loved the characters - again, a little underdeveloped in some places but overall, great. Tessa's best friend Opal was definitely a highlight. She was the perfect counterpoint to Tessa's logical mind. And SO much fun! :) Will was also amazing. He was perfect for Tessa, and their love, while fated, takes on a passion and life of it's own. It was very, very realistic - apart from the whole time-travel thing.

My rating: 4 out of 5 - It was definitely left open for a sequel, which I will definitely be reading.

Personally, I think the cover is a little deceptive -- when I saw it, I thought that it would be darker. In contrast, Warped is a really easy, fun read. I read it in a couple of hours.

As I've mentioned before, I hate when authors try to create a series for no good reason. It really pleased me that this could be a standalone book. I'm not against sequels or anything, I just really abhor when a single premise is stretched out across several novels when it really could just be wrapped up in one. Warped was a single, cohesive story that had a finite beginning, middle, and end -- no stupid cliffhanger, which I really, really appreciate.

Also appreciated -- no love triangle. I'm not sure what's up with seemingly all the YA books recently, but somehow there has to be a love triangle of some sort (usually the girl choosing between two guys, a dark mysterious one and the perfect golden one). If done well, it works, but usually it's unnecessary. Maurissa Guibord recognizes this and thankfully doesn't foist a second love interest onto us. Mad props.

The characters are all interesting, and I really love the back-and-forth between Will and Tessa. (Also, I seem to really love Will-and-Tessa pairings.) Opal was kind of weird to me by calmly accepting Tessa's strange stories without dragging her to a mental institute, but wasn't too bad. She was a very minor character, but that worked for the purpose of the story.

All in all, the book was pretty straightforward and simple, no really out-there twists and turns. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone who is really into convoluted stories; this is probably more along the lines of YA fantasy comfort foods. I definitely liked it and will probably read again when I want something simple and fun :)
