Michael Pollan never disappoints.

I just finished an instant buldak ramen mega phase and wanted something to get me back into my regular eating habits (which I also learned from Michael Pollan, to no surprise). I realized going through my nonfic shelf that I'd never actually read this, despite having had it for years.

I really loved each rule and the short description. This would be such a great book to give someone as a gift if they needed some inspiration to start eating a little better.

My favorite rule, apparently a Chinese proverb to the extent of:

Eating what stands on one leg is better than eating what stands on two legs, which is better than eating what stands on four legs.

In other words:

One leg = mushrooms and plant foods

Two legs = poultry and fowl

Four legs = cows, pigs, and other mammals.

Loved this! Easy mantras to follow for a healthier life. Should be a mandatory read for all humans...or at least those currently eating a western diet. The author stresses picking a few rules that work for you, not having to follow every single one. It's also nothing groundbreaking, just pithy rules to support lifestyle/behavior changes.

Everyone should read this quick book by Michael Pollan. Changes the way you look at food...and what food really is.

A quick read but a fun way to bring us back to our senses about how to eat

Super quick short read, lots of nuggets of wisdom!

Great...full of helpful tips/sayings. For example, "Don't eat anything that has an ingredient that a third-grader cannot pronounce." A condensed version of his book "In Defense of Food".

I loved this book for it's simplicity. You can just pick it up and read a couple of the rules and think about it and enjoy. I think he got a few of them wrong, but it is a great tool for getting people to think about what they eat and remember a few things when they are choosing food to eat. I love Michael Pollan and this is just as good as his others and in an easy to understand and digest format!!

Read this every couple years as a reminder, it's quick, well synthesized, and entertainingly phrased - though tbh the tagline "eat real food, not too much, mostly plants" is all you really need.

I always appreciate a book that only takes me a half hour to read. Oh, and it had some good advice, too.
