I couldn't decide exactly how to rate this book. I started it about a week and a half ago, and couldn't get into it right away, so I read another book or 2 before I picked this one up again.
This book was actually recommended to me by a barnes and noble employee. She talked soooo highly of this series that I had to buy it. That and the fact that the whole series had been signed by the author, so I was really excited about owning these.
I really enjoyed this book. I loved the way it was written. The author did a great job of going through the whole scene including the characters thoughts. I've never seen it done that well before. I really felt like I was in the scenes with them, and that's something I can't say I've experienced before.
The characters were soooo relatable. I adored Echo and Noah, and I got some good laughs from the side characters as well. Every person in this book was memorable, which you don't find very often.
The plot was a little slow going at first, which is why I put the book down the first time I started reading it, but once I really sat down and started reading this and getting to know the characters, I fell in love with them. I actually cared about what happened to all of them, and I may have shed a tear or two while reading D:
My main highlight of this book: the love story. I'm so used to the insta loves and the unrealistic relationship in books. But this one wasn't like that. They actually experienced a real relationship and the troubles that come with them.
Overall, I rate this book 4.8/5 stars. It was close to 5, but the slow start didn't instantly get me hooked on this book.

Muito adolescente pra mim, bem vergonha alheia. Alguns momentos gostei, tava mais interessada nas histórias familiares dos personagens do que no romance que era sem química e xoxo
cute. I like the chapter/character style. easy to read

Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry is a WONDERFUL AND AMAZING contemporary read
Caitlyn Crowe
IT WAS SO EMOTIONAL TOO
Taherah Abbas
OMG YES WITH ECHO AND HER MOM AND NOAH AND HIS BROTHERS
Caitlyn Crowe
AND ECHO WITH ASHLEY AND HER DAD AND NOAH AND THE PSYCHOPATHIC MEMORY LOSS
Taherah Abbas
nods It was a lot to take in but it was written so well
Caitlyn Crowe
I love the way Katie McGarry makes characters so broken that they are the perfect fits for each other....(did that make sense...it was nice and poetic and made sense in my head....)
Taherah Abbas
It was nice and poetic typed too. But yes I totally understand. It was also kinda of nice to see a more broken heroine (there are many of them but not if there's a broken hero) in this book and how they both served each other as their rock
Caitlyn Crowe
They were both just so fucked up (I know curse words, sorry) and in a different way than each other and how others thought they were
Taherah Abbas
They were I felt really bad for them and I love how easily we were able to connect to both Echo and Noah (2 VERY awesome character names if I may add)
Caitlyn Crowe
They were both so love-able and deserved so much love thats part of what broke my heart the most AND what made hem so special and perfect for each other. It broke my heart seeing two amazing wonderful people go unloved or without all the love they deserved but at the same time they ended up giving that love...to each other
Taherah Abbas
That was wonderfully said. You basically summarized the book in a totally vague but not kind of way. I also loved the way Echo's love for art was shown too
Caitlyn Crowe
Thanks, I try. I love all the artwork that Echo does AND OMG THE DRAWING OF HIS MOM AND DAD DIES
Taherah Abbas
Love how passionate she is and how Katie McGarry shows it as Echo's escape and journal at times
Caitlyn Crowe
You know what I hate though?? And I didn't notice it till the last time I read it but still...
Taherah Abbas
What??
Caitlyn Crowe
How fixated everyone, including Echo is at her being "normal" again. Like SHIT she is NEVER going to be normal again! Her mother attacked her, her dad left her for dead AND SHE CANT REMEMBER ANY OF IT!!!! Along with that Aires is gone and Ashley is having a kid and going around saying fucked up shit like irritatingly high girlish voice"Oh Echo, you're going to have a brother again" stops and yells like the usual insane person I am NO! NO!! Just, just. NO.
Taherah Abbas
Argh yeah. Really didn;t like the way her dad or Ashley handled things with Echo and I don't think I could ever forgive my dad if I was in Echo's place
Caitlyn Crowe
I would have probably just up and left. I would have said "I'm leaving, don't follow me. If you call the cops I will do something to get myself in jail to get away from you." Because that was not cool, and I get it they're in love and everybody makes mistakes blah blah blah but they soooooooo could have handled it better. So could Carrie and Joe for that matter but theirs was much less severe and they admitted to it
Taherah Abbas
Oooh yes it was just a jumble of miscommunication >.>
Caitlyn Crowe
And her mom never apologized and ugh, just ugh
Taherah Abbas
Her mom was just ANNOYING. Unstable I know but STILL
Caitlyn Crowe
She had been stable for two years at that point
Taherah Abbas
If she chose not to apologize for what she did then definitely unstable even then
Caitlyn Crowe

CUTEST MOMENT EVER. Love their relationship so much!

I'm not going to lie, this book was an I'm-on-holidays-and-bored-out-of-my-mind pick up that I thought would cause a lot of eye rolling and scoffing while two teenagers fell in love. Surprisingly, I picked the book up and couldn't put it down, it was a quick read but actually quite enjoyable. Here's the thing, I didn't hate the main character, in a lot of Young Adult novels these days the protagonist is annoying and you end up wanting to give them a good slap across the face with a wet fish. In the case of Pushing the Limits, I didn't want to hit Echo or Noah, I understood their reasons for the things they did and how they reacted to certain things. They were reasonable characters so thank you Katie McGarry for doing it right.

i love the story and the chemistry between all the characters. i just wish that the father plays more serious and deeper part on echo.
just something tugging on my head... the dialog sometimes just too sexist for young adult.

SO MANY FEELINGS. First, why does Katie McGarry think it’s okay to make me cry ALL THE DAMN TIME? HUH?! WHY?! It’s not fair. I cried during Nowhere But Here and now here she is again, making me sob for Echo and Noah. That is SO RUDE.
Also, just so you know, the book descriptions do not do her books justice. You always get SO MUCH MORE than what you’re expecting. I did not think this book would be as beautiful, dark, or amazing as it was. I was most pleasantly surprised. There’s something so deep and inviting about her characters that you instantly sympathize with them and want the best for them and, ultimately, fall in love with them.

"Because growing up means making tough choices, and doing the right thing doesn't necessarily mean doing the thing that feels good." - Mrs. Collins (SECA! un excelente personaje!)

This book is superbly written and contains very vivid language that sizzles from the pages. The romance, fury, and pain that surround this intense story speaks deeply to the reader in every way that counts: to their bones, their past, and their hearts. This story is about family above anything else, it expresses the meaning of friendship, the appreciation of family, and the joys and terrors of love. There are occasions when the book takes unnecessary turns that frustrate the reader and make the story lose a bit of its morality. However, McGarry is certainly a promising author. I wholeheartedly recommend this story to all those that are lost, in the hopes you may find something you did not see coming.
