Totally awesome. I loved the apocalyptic setting, and the men become heroes aspect. So awesome!

Another great original book from Sanderson. This is Sci-Fi action with some twists at the end. Great to recommend to teens and adults alike.

I had put off reading Steelheart for a while because many said it wasn't Sanderson's best work. And I agree with that, but just because I've enjoyed the Mistborn and Stormlight Archive series much more than this, I still throroughly enjoyed Steelheart.

This series is YA, and it's noticeable different from the other series I have read by this same author. The world building isn't as extensive but with that being said, it is a very well established world and well explained.

I found it a little predictable towards the end but still gripping, and the characters were easy to root for.

So while this is definitely not my favourite books by Sanderson, or even one of my favourite books, I still enjoyed it. I must admit that my significantly lowered expectations might have contributed to my enjoyment but eh.

I've already ordered the rest of this series (hopefully it remains a trilogy) so I'm excited to see where this story goes. At least I have some form of Sanderson to fill the void while waiting for Oathbringer.

First of all I need to reiterate how much I'm in awe of Sanderson's creative skills. Never would I imagine him writing this kind of novels judging on what I've already read by him, and once again he surprised me. Kudos to you!
To the novel now. I enjoyed Sanderson's usual skills in character building and in showing rather than telling the world that the characters live in. I had the softest spot for Abraham and Cody! Well developed, well thought out, the ending caught me by surprise, however this one liked a spark for me, something to grip me and not let me go.
I will most definitely go and look for Firefight! :)

After reading so many books, watching plenty of media and playing a lot of video games, you become wise to plot twists and generally start understanding how stories tend to play out. Therefore, when a story succeeds at blindsiding you, it’s always a pleasant surprise.

This is the case for Steelheart: The last third of the book kept throwing so many things that I hadn’t expected to happen.

Personally, I believe it is the lightest book (in terms of details) that I’ve read so far by Brandon Sanderson but I think it’s supposed to be aimed at a slightly younger audience than his other books. It was still amazing.

The world is impressive; it is a cross between the old (fashion and attitude, particularly) and the futuristic (steel city, technology, etc.)!

The characters are colourful and varied. The ones we got to meet have been strong, solid characters: My favourite has to be Cody with his quirkiness. I only wish that we got to know more about Steelheart himself; it felt like there could be so much more there. It might be addressed in the next books, perhaps?

This book just wasn't for me. Sanderson's writing is excellent as always, but the story didn't speak to me personally. I'd still recommend it though as I can see is appealing to a wide variety of people in general.

If you are looking for light fluff with underdeveloped, clichéd characters and an interesting, but sparsely described setting, Steelheart may be for you. If you want a book that has substance, is excellently written with deep and complicated characters, then checkout Mistborn or The Way of Kings.
