I’ve been meaning to read Eoin Colfer’s Half Moon Investigations for a while. He’s my favorite author, and I finally got to read it. I was not disappointed. All his books are just as good as the Artemis Fowl series. Sarcasm, wit, humor, action … I love them.

There weren’t many flaws in the book. Every bit of it kept me engaged, and I’m heading off to find the TV series right now.

This book is good book about a boy trying to prove his abilities of a detective are not joke. Two boys Fletcher(half moon) and Red, two unlikely friends, work together to clear their names. This book opens yours eyes on how crazy yet smart kids can be. I wish there were a sequel!

I read this to my six-year-old. He really enjoyed it; me, not so much. I should have known, because I bought it remaindered at Powell's Books for Kieran's Epiphany gift (my husband's family tradition is that the three kings leave a small gift in your shoes on Epiphany Day), and my oldest son, aged 13, said he'd read it and it wasn't very good. Chris tends to be not a very critical person, so the fact he didn't like it should have warned me.

We were in the midst of reading about four books at once, and Kieran seemed to be the most interested in this one, to my chagrin. I found it to be overwritten and boring. I vastly preferred Roald Dahl's Matilda, which was another one of the books we've been reading.

I just can't dislike books by Eoin Colfer. I really can't. Although Half Moon Investigations wasn't my favorite book ever by him, I still enjoyed it a lot. I actually enjoyed it a whole lot more than I originally thought I would because this book is more in the mystery genre.

Once again Mr. Colfer managed to create very interesting characters. The main character, Fletcher Moon, of course being the most fascinating. But I also liked Red Sharkey a lot. And I also have to say that Colfer has a knack for creating batshit crazy female characters. Just saying - that April girl? There was seriously something wrong with her. She could give Opal Koboi (from Artemis Fowl) a run for her money.

But back to the story now. It was a good story and a great mystery. I found myself wanting to solve it along with Fletcher or as Red calls him, Half Moon. And in the end I must admit that I hadn't been able to guess who was really behind it all so that's more bonus points for this book and author.

Another thing, I feel I must say is that the story read really quickly. I flew through it in no time and it always had my attention. Colfer has a unique way of writing a story and keeping its audience hooked. At least, that's always the case with me.

So if you're looking for an awesome mystery book, look no further - you have got to read Half Moon Investigations. Colfer introduces us to unique characters, unexpected twists and the brilliance of his writing once again. I loved it!

Ha, I can finally say again that I read a book for school! It's pretty funny and quick-paced, with some plot holes that won't bother the 5th grader for whom it is intended. Apart from the humorous tone, it actually deals with some pretty serious stuff, and has a few deeper running themes, like people are often not what they seem to be, and there can be many different reasons for people to make wrong choices. I enjoyed reading it with my 5th grade student in mind.

This is the story of Fletcher Moon. Fletcher is a 12-year-old boy that's fascinated with all things that have to do with investigation and detective work. He's gone through an online detective program and earned an official badge. With is Sherlock-like deductive skills, Fletcher investigates basic school problems.
One day, however, Fletcher gets caught in the middle of a crime on accident and is suddenly accused of arson. He's on his way to the police office, when all of the sudden, the bully of the school Red Sharky, saves Fletcher telling him that he wants to clear his own name. Confused by this (Red's family is usually always guilty), Fletcher has no choice but to follow Red. A fugitive, it's up to Fletcher to clear his name, and solve the crime!
I love Eoin Colfer. This was actually a very good book. It's the perfect mix of a noir investigation book, and a Sherlock Holmes mystery, but for young adult readers! While some of the characters were shallow, Colfer makes up for this with a splendid plot, interesting twists, and witty dialogue. I'd recommend reading this book.

was ok, but at the start quite boring. Fletcher is totally framed and unpopular! Red is totally cooler!
