i loved that the characters are so satisfyingly human in their actions abs lack of foresight. Very keen on continuing with this series.

2.75/5. There were a lot of things that didn’t work for me. I found some of the language around mental health to be problematic. I also wanted more. More details about Sophie and Jonah’s lives, more insight to why they did what they did, and more depth. It was an interesting mystery but not enough to redeem all that was missing. Overall very “meh” with a shrug.

One of my favorite books in this series <3
I must admit that I was particulary fond of Sophie since the first book : first secretary a little superficial in spite of herself, then almost victim of a super creepy serial killer and finally hostess at the Delphi Center ... and again a victim of a very bad luck while walking on campus.
I loved following the investigation that went from a mundane shooting to a whole conspiracy but also the birth and evolution of the relationship between Sophie and Jonah that I loved (well, I must admit if I had to criticize something in this series is that even if the sex scenes are well written, I find them a bit flat ...)
Well, the next book is about characters very very secondary but I can't wait !

Snapped
5 Stars

In the aftermath of a campus shooting, Sophie Barrett realizes that she witnessed something that undermines the authorities' "lone gunman" premise. While investigators are skeptical about Sophie's claims, a skilled and determined killer is not, and she soon finds herself in the sights of a dangerous assassin.

Series note: Sophie and Jonah's story begins in the previous book, Unforgivable, as such it is recommended that the books be read in order.

Snapped is an excellent mix of romance and suspense. Sophie and Jonah's relationship is reminiscent of the pairing in Whisper of Warning, book #2 in Griffin's Glass Sisters series. Although not as brash as Courtney Glass, Sophie uses snark and insolence to conceal a deeper vulnerability and desire to feel safe and loved. Jonah, similar to Will Hodges, has a core of strength and integrity, and it is fun watching him come to terms with his feelings for Sophie. They have amazing chemistry, and their witty banter and bickering is highly entertaining.

The suspense plot is action-packed from the start as Sophie and Jonah are caught up in the events of the campus shooting and the subsequent investigation. The initial spree is nerve-racking as readers get an up-close view of events both from the perspective of the victims through Sophie and the police through Jonah. While Sophie is willfull and stubborn, she does manage to avoid being a completely TSTL heroine as she does possess some common sense and knows how to take care of herself.

All in all, this is the best installment in the series so far, and I look forward to reading more about the new characters introduced here in future books.

I first met Jonah and Sophie in Unforgivable and there was some definite sparks there so I couldn't wait to read their story. I was also very intrigued by the school shooting premise. The whole time I was reading, I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next--I wasn't sure where the author will take the story especially after the shooter shot himself in chapter three. But take it she did and after the highly charged beginning, I was at the edge of my seat the whole entire time.

The characters (main and secondary) were fantastic. But the character that stood out for me was Sophie who was very smart, stubborn and independent. Usually, stubborn and independent heroines tend to irritate me because most knowingly put themselves into stupid situations. Not Sophie. Danger seemed to find her. This girl went through a lot--from being being abducted in Unforgivable to being caught in the middle of a school shooting to realizing that someone was trying to kill her (after she was ran off a cliff and narrowly escaping her car in which the villain had planted a bomb). I knew and understood where she was coming from and why she did what she did. Jonah was great as well and he had his own issues, mainly fighting his intense attraction to Sophie who was convinced that the shooter may have an accomplice. He knew what Sophie had gone through and he didn't want to take advantage of her. She was also a key witness in his case. There is a reason why Ms. Griffin is my go-to author for romantic suspense and it's because she can write a darn good romance amid all the action and suspense--she balances the suspense and the romance so well. There was great chemistry between Sophie and Jonah. They were both fighting their feelings for each other for most of the book but when they finally got together, it's genuine and worth the anticipation on my part.

I guess my only complaint was that I felt I didn't get to "know" the villain. I felt he wasn't as sinister as I like my villains to be and he wasn't as well-developed as the shooter. Characters from previous Tracer series books make an appearance (like Ric and Mia from Unforgivable) which I like because you get an update on what they have been doing. New characters were also introduced like workaholic, rookie detective Allison Doyle and I hope she'll have her own book in the future.

Ms. Griffin takes you on a ride filled with twists and turns that will have you guessing until the end--it has the most twisty plot I've read by the author yet. Snapped is a gripping, action-packed, suspenseful and romantic read you won't be able to put down.

"I know," he said. "I heard you the first time"

Squeeee!! I loved this book, though that's probably not a surprise to yall at this point.

I don't know how she does, but Laura ratchets up the intensity with each book. Snapped starts off at a college campus shooting, and quickly turns into something far more sinister.

Sophie has already been through hell once, and is not thrilled to be stuck in the center of all this chaos again. But what SMPD doesn't realize, is that it will be Sophie that blows this case wide open for them.
All the key players from previous books are here as well, but this twisted tale focuses on Sophie, Jonah, and "new" cops Sean Byrne and Allison Doyle; a petty theft officer at the wrong place at the wrong time... Or the right place, depending on your outlook.

This story inspires a touch of girl power, and reinforces following your gut instinct. It was pretty cool to see two unassuming women kick ass and take names, while being doubted more often than not by the male population.

It should come as no surprise that I highly recommend this book, as well as the three preceding and the 9th book in this series. (I read the 9th first- and loved it).

TBR Reading Challenge: General Category- This book has been on my TBR list since December 2010.

3.5*

I loved the suspense plot of this book, and as always I enjoyed the writing. Laura Griffin is a very consistent writer. Unfortunately, I didn't really "feel the love" between the main characters. Their communication skills were abysmal, and I didn't end the book feeling like they had learned to trust one another. Added to that, Sophie had a few TSTL moments, one serious. She somehow manages to blames Jonah and even gets him to apologize. I'd prefer the author find other ways to advance the plot than having the female lead act rashly, especially when the heroine has been traumatized in violent crime before and should know better, as the case is with Sophie.

I'm rounding up to 4* because I really did enjoy the mystery and the writing. If I'd been able to connect with the characters it would have been higher.

With a story line ripped from today’s headlines and a little conspiracy thrown in Griffin has written a fast paced, don’t want to put it down suspense.

Sadly a campus shooting is not the stuff of fiction any longer, a horrible experience that many would not willingly imagine themselves in. In Snapped Sophie finds herself right in the middle of a nightmare, and like in a nightmare she feels frozen and helpless. That doesn’t stop her from trying to save a little girls life, a glimpse into the steel backbone hidden inside. And steel is what she will need to escape the continuous attempts on her life; this seeming random shooting was not random and will go to great lengths to keep people thinking that it was.

Jonah is a true alpha male, striving to protect and keep what he considers his. As former military and current cop he is very capable of doing so, if only Sophie would allow herself to be protected. Maybe his protective instincts kick in due to having rescued Sophie from a killer the year before, or maybe it is just the fact that he finally realizes she fits with him.

For a suspenseful read Snapped does its job. You will want to read this through in one sitting. The shock of the shooting evolves into a mystery of who really did it and why. The events are described with great detail; the characters feel like regular people who happen to be wrapped up in a crazy situation. If you are in the mood for a contemporary suspense with a little romance thrown in this is it.
