I'm an Indigo employee, and I received an advanced reading copy of this book from the publisher, in exchange for my honest review.

4.5 stars

A whirlwind of action, fantasy, and good vs evil - this book was exactly what I needed to get me out of a reading rut. Following a group of Earth Garde, old and new, while also remaining chock full of cameos by some of our favourite characters from the original Lorien Legacies series, I could not put this book down.

Although it had been so long since I finished the I am number four series (I had to Look up the book summaries on Wikipedia so I could catch up), this book throws you right in to the new world after the Mogadorian attack. With a diverse and really likeable cast, and packed full of action and adventure, I am so excited to see the new directions this series will take.

Although I'm hoping for my favourite Lorics to have large cameos in the coming books, I must say I love this new group, and cannot wait to explore these characters more.

Perfect for fans of the I Am Number Four Series, or for X-men enthusiasts, I definitely recommend this action-packed read (although the context of having read the I Am Number Four series will definitely be important). It read a lot like an action movie, and I found myself thinking about it a lot, even after I finished it. It was just an overall really exciting read, and i cannot wait for the next one!

This book was an easy read, and I'm super curious to see these new characters grow and get some depth to them.

A fun, exciting read, I can't wait to see what's next! (Here's hoping this series won't be as long as the I Am Number Four series!)

TW/CW: Violence, death, fantasy violence, language

REVIEW: Generation One is the first in a series of books spun-off from The Lorien Legacies. It follows the human Garde as they train to make sense of their powers after the war with the Mogadorians.
While I enjoyed this book and will definitely read the next ones, I didn’t find this series to be quite as engaging as The Lorien Legacies. I did appreciate that the characters were more diverse, and it was interesting seeing the new legacies that they’ve discovered. I also liked the school atmosphere. But it just seemed to be lacking some of the spirit of the Lorien Legacies. Maybe the series will get better on the second book, and I’m definitely not giving up on it.
Although there were some short cameos by characters from the original series, I wish there’d been more, to kind of tie the two series together more. I’ve heard that there are more of them in future books, so here’s hoping. 🙂
I would recommend this book to fans of The Lorien Legacies and YA science fiction/fantasy.

Readable ish with an attempt at a diverse cast. Some good ideas but just a bit shapeless and disappointing after the original book.

writing style became progressively better since book 1, new plot is interesting, especially the plot line with the spoiler. i wish we had more interactions with the original 7, but the new characters are cool:)

The 'I Am Number Four' series has always been underrated! I love it and I'm thrilled to know there will be more stories. The characters and the pacing is brilliant and there's something about these books which just flows effortlessly and naturally. When does the next one come out?!

I really like this series so far. It's a lot like the original series but it doesn't take as long to really get started.

I really enjoyed this book more than I was expecting. It had a slightly slower start for me, but once we had been introduced to all of the characters the plot started to move forward at a faster pace. The adventure part of the book was entertaining and the conclusion what one would suspect for the first book in the new series. I enjoyed the fight between the Harvesters and the Garde and the healing Taylor could do and the final fight. However, I never felt all that connected to the characters. For instance, usually in books I enjoy I feel emotionally invested in the characters and that wasn't really the case here. It just seemed like the author didn't try hard enough to develop empathy n the readers. Also, the end of the book seemed to rush up and all of a sudden the action was over. But, overall it was an entertaining and easy read.

Loved this as much as the original series. So glad I stumbled across it in the library. Can't wait to start the next one.
