Abducted is book one in the Alien Mate Index sereis by Evangeline Anderson.

The people of Earth don’t know about aliens or that they are being evaluated to be brides.

Zoe is like any human. She doesn’t feel she’s special. She’s got a job she hates, a boss from hell, and fun is lacking in her life.

The story is told in dual POV and I enjoyed this aspect. Zoe is fun, funny, sassy and fresh. She has a penchant for finding herself in situations and needing rescuing. The situations aren’t too ridiculous. Sarden is a sweety, likable, noble, and has a heart of gold. I adored him.

What follows is a fun adventure and a nice start to the sereis. Theirs not as much sex as some of Anderson’s other work and the build-up is long before they hit the sheets. We’re treated to a lot of laughs, angst, decent world building, fun moments and hawt sex.

The only thing that nocked this down a bit is that their are a lot of different plots going on and it felt a bit much for an Alien Sci-Fi Romance.

Abducted was an enjoyable read. I’m looking forward to reading on.

I want to start by saying that there were some funny moments in the books and there were a couple side characters I really liked. The audiobook also had a good narrator,.

The way information came up in the book was a bit strange at times and it was a little longer than it needed to be. I'm still pretty confused about what a La-ti-zal is. Out of everything that was explained, I felt like this could have been a sentence longer to have made it clearer in the beginning.

I think I'd read book two vs the audiobook, just to see if changing the format helps with engaging with the story more.

just the story I needed!

I had hit a dreaded reading slump and nothing would sooth my need for a good read. Not even any other Evangeline Anderson books! Thankfully, I had downloaded this one when the author shared about it on her Instagram and finally gave it a shot. Love it! It had all the character development, romance, world building, and plot that I needed to get my fix.

The number of issues I have with this book/series could fuel a dissertation's length of vitriol.

I like this author but found it very slow starting and I almost have up on it. But glad I carried on as it got a lot better. Well worth the read.

A big, hunky, red, alpha alien and a small, curvy, stubborn human woman traveling through space sounds like a set up for hilarious situations.

Unfortunately it doesn't deliver. There are a few fun situations like the teleporting mirror and sucking toilet, but they are few and far between. At least in the beginning. The start is slow. Very slow. The story didn't pickup until the second half, and by then it was too late to reel me in.

I liked the world building and can see how it can develop in coming books. The alien species was detailed and I loved Al. I liked Zoe in the beginning, then she turned stupid and stubborn. Thankfully, she smartened up a bit in the end .

I was looking for a road-trip book, something I could listen to that would make me laugh and keep me awake, and this book DELIVERED! I chose it based on the ridiculous concept, but it really surprised me with its wit, humor....and length. There were some cringe-worthy moments, and if I'd heard a character say, "What are you talking about?!?" one more time, I might have screamed, but most of the story was very pleasant. The only other thing that was awful, terrible, just REALLY crappy, was the male narrator. He had no intonation, no feel for context, and no personality. He sounded like a heavy-breathing voyeur peeking through your window, but getting no enjoyment from it 🤣

I love the pop culture references that show up in this book! I think it's great when authors use their work to shout out other authors, projects, or tv shows that their fans (or they themselves) enjoy. I have been a long time reader of Evangeline's especially her Brides of the Kindred series (see [b:Claimed|10439221|Claimed (Brides of the Kindred, #1)|Evangeline Anderson|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1327942833s/10439221.jpg|15343817] if interested) so a new series about different aliens was a nice move for her. The males are less human looking, new cultural norms to learn, and so far we're not stuck on the "one villain at a time" shtick that is going on with Kindred series. Also the obvious hero/heroine pairing for the next book isn't so pronounced at the end of this book, (yes predictable, but not exhaustively spelled out in this work).
