Funny and clever and full of quirky characters that I was eager to follow to the zany climax. Graeme Simsion is a master of dialogue, and I'm impressed with his ability to develop an unreliable character who is fun to follow as he gets himself into more and more social trouble. Simsion's depiction of a man on the autism spectrum--and how others deal with him--is spot on.
Not bad - entertaining - but not as good as the first one.
I didn't like it as much as the original, but still entertaining!
The followup book to The Rosie Project brings us to the point of Rosie and Don's marriage after 10 months and with the additional component of living in New York and an unplanned pregnancy. Don, somewhat overwhelmed by this development and, predictably, difficulties ensue. There are meltdowns and incidents and uproars and the honeymoon is over. The end result is quite satisfying and we see how Don, through his own words, grows as a social being. Light and eminently enjoyable.
It was a lot more serious than the first book, so although it had its funny moments, overall, it was not as funny. I applaud Graeme Simsion for taking a risk and moving in that direction. At first I was really upset with Rosie's behavior, but upon reflection, I think I understand why she behaved as she did. Human relations are complicated to begin with, but ultimately, I think they both ended up at crossroads because they stopped talking to each other and started hiding things to protect the other person and that led to an inevitable conflict. I really enjoyed how they resolved their challenges and I also liked how the supporting characters changed and matured in their own way throughout the book.
I enjoyed 'The Rosie Project' and this sequel was just as engrossing. I picked it up, started reading, and suddenly an entire day had disappeared.
This was okay - but not nearly as good as the first one, in my opinion.
Started slow, but eventually picked up and hit the same stride and tone as The Rosie Project.
I probably should have given this 3 stars. It's not as good as the first book. But I really enjoyed the characters.
There were funny moments, but a lot is just a recycling of the same humor from the first book. While I enjoyed reading this poolside, I will say that it is utterly absurd in terms of plot points. Also, I think that the female characters are completely underdeveloped and stereotypical.
