I read this book cover to cover.
I needed to keep reading to know what would happen. This book is not at all what I expected - A STANDALONE ADVENTURE FOR ASH'S STORY, WHAT?!
Meghan was barely in this book, and at times I felt like I was just waiting to see her, but the realisation of this being Ash's tough journey in the pursuit of love and a future with Meghan was a hard-hitting one that also made me look internally.
Julie's ending of Shadow of the Fox gave me all the feels, I should have expected this book to hurt me and satisfy me in the same way.
While I preferred The Iron Queen more (because I love both Meghan's and Ash's dynamic together the most and they could finally have their moments in that book), this book is still absolutely outstanding, in my opinion.

You got me. I teared up when I thought I wouldn’t. I don’t think I’ll reread this series, but I would have fangirled so hard over this series in high school/middle school.
Sjrbfoanwcsigjabceus ahhhhh!! Sooo good... I was a little hesitant to read this because I was worried how prince ash's perspective would go but I totally loved it. We saw his past, present, and even some future. Sigh. Love love loved it
And puck.. Is puck soo always love him!
And puck.. Is puck soo always love him!
“My fall began, as many stories do, with a girl.”
I can finally say that I have finished a series and I am so proud of myself. I have started this series like 3 years ago and kept on procrastinating reading it and now that I have I feel so sad that it had come to an end.
This instalment is narrated from Ash’s perspective which I couldn’t be happier about since I absolutely adore Ash. I really enjoyed this book even though it felt a bit slower than the other ones. My favorite thing about this book was Puck and Ash, I just love their enemies-friends relationship and their banter was just everything. Surprisingly I actually liked Puck in this book even though I have always found him annoying (maybe it was Meghan’s pov) and I am so excited for his new book that will be released next year. Speaking of Meghan, I was surprised by the lack of her in this book, she almost didn’t appear at all. Grimmalkin of course was a constant presence in this one, I absolutely love him, he’s my favorite character in this series. A new addition to our crew was the big bad wolf and I really enjoyed his banter with Grim.
Spoiler
I was very surprised when they found out that Ariella was alive all along and I have to admit that I didn’t like her that much, I mean I pitied her for the situation that she was in, knowing that the boy you love will fall for another and actually seeing it sucks a lot. What surprised me even more was how I cried when she sacrificed herself, it was a very sad and beautifully written scene. All in all, this was a solid conclusion to this amazing series and I’ll definitely be revisiting it again and again. These characters and this world has grown on me and it felt so nostalgic reading this book.
“I have come from the End of the World. From the River of Dreams, through the gauntlet and the Briar and the Deep Wyld, in order to stand before you today. I have but one request—to take my place at your side. To resume my duty as your knight, and to protect you and your kingdom for as long as I draw breath.”
I almost forgot to talk about the guide to visiting the Nevernever that was at the end of this book, I loved it so much found it extremely hilarious.
“Do not be deceived by the politeness of the fey. Fey are almost always polite. This does not mean they will not happily remove your head.”
This was an amazing conclusion to the Iron Fey Series. It really took my breath away. This book is based on Ash's point of few and his journey to return back to Megahn. And OMG, it was confusing at parts but so amazing. The fight scenes were just breath taking and we also met a few new characters and saw another side of Puke. And you will not believe who has been alive this whole time..
WOW. Just WOW! I was completely blown away by The Iron Queen, but this one is even better, if that’s even possible! The beginning was a bit slow with a lot of narration from Ash (and the fact I kept getting interrupted while reading didn’t help), but once I jumped past that hurdle I was completely hooked! Ash, the Winter Prince, is seeking a way to enter the Iron Realm to be with Meghan. At last, we finally learn everything there is to learn about Ash.
I’m not sure where to begin since I just can’t express how awesome this book really is! So, Ash had closed himself off to the world when his love died, but before that, even growing up in the Unseelie Court, where love is a weakness, Ash was different from his brethren. Yes, he did some horrible things, but he just wasn’t as cold or as evil, as others, like his brother Rowan. He played by the rules of the court, but he didn’t revel in them, didn’t enjoy hurting others. There were a lot revealed about Ash that we didn’t know before. However, the best part is the emotional turmoil that Ash goes through as he goes on his quest. Something really unexpected happens that changed Ash’s entire belief and I was there with him every step along the way as he struggled to reach the end of his journey.
I was already in awe with the Nevernever in the first book, but in this one Julie Kagawa really let her imagination run wild! We see a part of the Nevernever we’ve never seen before. Since Faery came from the imagination and dreams of humans, there are always new things to discover in Faery. Then there’re the trials! Omg they’re fantastic!! These trials are no silly personality tests, but dangerous tests where you can easily lose your life. I also loved how Ash couldn’t have done it all by himself but he had to work together with all his traveling companions!
Speaking of traveling companions, where would everyone be without our favorite cait sith? I loved Grimalkin as always and his blithe attitude toward the entire thing. I wish I knew everything about Grimalkin, but his mysterious nature is part of the fun! Whenever I think of him, I think of the Cheshire cat. Puck is also there with his humorous quirks and prankster personality! He can still make me laugh in the most serious situations, but we all know that deep down Puck has his serious and tortured past too. He just hides it a lot better than other people! There’s a third traveling companion that I was surprised but delighted to see! I won’t say anything for fear of spoilers, but I loved them nonetheless.
Like in The Iron Queen, there continues to be a hopelessness to the romance between Ash and Meghan that tore at my heart. At the same time, we see that everything had partly been fated to happen. A lot of alternate possible futures were revealed in this one that I’m super glad didn’t happen! I’m a HEA kind of girl, but Ms. Kagawa didn’t hold back when exploring the consequences if the HEA didn’t happen, and that’s the worst/best part of the book that moved me to tears. I’m a sucker for these kind of impossible and epic romance and the happily ever after that comes when the characters overcome all odds against them.
The Iron Knight is a fabulous end to an amazing series that I know I will read again and again. I already miss the characters and I don’t know when another romance will move me as deeply as that of Ash and Meghan’s. My review really doesn’t do this book justice, so if you haven’t read this series yet, pick it up soon! Ash’s story will stay with you long after his journey is over.

My bad boy Ash got his own book like he deserved! I did enjoy this story in his perspective though and that Puck and Grimalkin went on his journey with him. I liked the addition of the Big Bad Wolf, but wasn't really necessary. I keep going back and forth about Ariella's part in this story being the Seer. I didn't like it at first because it felt like a poor move to just throw her back in like oh, I didn't really die and I'm going to try to steal you back. Later on though, I realized she was an essential part of the journey helping Ash sort his feelings out and being the ultimate sacrifice in order to receive his soul and all of that made me feel a little better about her involvement. I'm really happy with how Ash and Meghan ended.
While I really enjoyed this from Ash's point of view, it didn't really add any value to the original story. I feel like this was introduced to create the cookie cutter happy ending for all the characters. I did however love the action scenes and the journey this book covered. I can never get enough of Puck and Grimalkin. It was also nice to see a new part of the world, which was definitely a lot creepier than I first thought.
I loved this book! I loved that it was in Ash's perspective and just seeing how he perceives things, especially Puck and Grim. I definitely thought this was a good way to end the series. It was nice to get to know how Meghan sees Ash as well as how he sees himself and life around him. Definitely my favorite of the series, although the rest are very close.
