A.L. Jackson

This book was addicting and very poetic the writer gave it her all it was really amazing the characters their sorrows and agony was portrayed very well i felt i was with them a great ride , i was so invested in the characters and their development they grew up slowly but gradually which made it so much more interesting

Eden is a kindergarten teacher who is looking for another job that can earn her money fast she is in desperate need of money due to something happening with her and her father they have debt and she wants to help out, on a personal level she has her own heartbreak that left her afraid of opening up and becoming happy. on the other hand Trent is a dark man who has a dark past and a very sad one that he can not change but he is working on it for his son to give him a peaceful life, They meet in his club when she applies for the job as a waitress, they are intimidated by each other he is bad she is good they get mixed up in each other, fall in love and damn what a love it is ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The plot was intriguing and not predictable it kept me on the egde of my seat worried about them what might happen to them the twist and turns my heart was pounding it was emotional with all that i felt it deep and I wanted more

A.L. Jackson is one of my favorite romance author discoveries this year and I'm slowly working on her backlist.  I've now read three books by her, and they are all keepers. I love Give Me a Reason. Eden and Trent are soulmates. And I love their little family together with Gage. If there is an A.L. Jackson hero that deserves all the love and happiness, it's Trent. His past is so tragic, and it was easy to succumb to losing his mind to the darkness, but Trent wanted absolution and redemption for his brothers and his son Gage. And sweet Eden was the perfect match for him. I first met them while reading From Here to Eternity and I just knew I will love them because Trent clearly worships his wife. I also love the Lawson brothers so much! I am already in love with Jud and Logan, and I hope their stories are as good as this one.

while really excited for the premise of this story, i was unable to really connect with the characters. Eden was dangerously naive and Trent was a tortured antihero turned good who has mega trust issues- but then turns arounds & tells the girl he has had 3 interactions with all the illegal things he has done? i saw the plot twist coming a mile away and i wish it would have been fleshed out more.
conner crais and desiree ketchum kept me engaged in the story with their narrations and i did shed a tear or two at the appropriate times from their narration. my only cringe was their use of child like speech used inconsistent speech sound errors. my speechie brain doesn’t ever quit, so each time his speech error patterns changed it jarred me from the book.

Awful! I found myself editing the sentences in my head just trying to get through it. The concepts of the story where beaten over and over without offering anymore explanation than the first time it was brought up. Honestly we get it.... he is a bad boy with a past that is going to come back to him. Get to the point. It was very repetitive. The author had a major aversion to using "I" in any sentence, which was a major distraction. It made the dialog awkward and removed you from the moment because no one would actually speak that way. And the use of 'girl' in the weirdest places vs using she or her, killed everything for me.

I enjoyed the story and plot line. The beginning was a bit slow at first but I like the way it developed in the relationship department. My BIGGEST problem, and the reason for a loss of a star, is the writing. I'm not really the grammar police type usually, but I had to force myself past the sentence structures. SO many sentences that should have started with "I" or some other sentence starter. such as 'Felt the shift is the sordid, stagnant air.' Or 'House was one of those luxury cookie-cutter types.' Is it named house because why else wouldn't that sentence start with 'The'. Meanwhile, plenty of other sentences, "I'll show you testy.", and even the FMC POV had perfect structure. If it was part of the MMC profile to cut off the beginning of his sentences and thoughts on occasion, it was never specified. But I pushed through and felt it was worth it to make it to the end.

P.S. in the warnings at the beginning of the book it states there are 'sexual scenes - many scenes'. While that might be true they are mild in the spice area maybe 🌶🌶. Just if anyone was looking to know.
