this was a really incredible book: a lovestory between a girl who recently experienced the loss of her sister and a suicidal boy outcast from society. it is a pretty sad book, and also quite unusual, with characters unlike any others. I loved the way that poetry and quotes were woven into the story, as Violet and finch share their passion for words. there were some really beautiful phrases in this book and also very moving ideas and scenes.
I felt that Finch's death was very much expected from the beginning, and I didn't really feel that emotional when he did die to be honest, as it wasn't a shock. But it was still moving.
i find it difficult to describe this book other than by saying "read it!"
definitely recommend.

This book made me so incredibly emotional. That’s all I can say without giving a true spoiler but you really do fall in love with the characters and their goal. I love this book so much and it had me bawling.

All The Bright Places is centered around two main characters. Finch and Violet. Each chapter voices Finch or Violet’s point of view. The book explores issues like grief, suicide, bullying, and mental illness.

This book shows you the dark parts of life. The parts that are very much real, but not always talked about. It was a very sad and sorrowful book that gave me a weird hollow feeling by the end, but it also showed the reality of life…the reality that unfortunately things in life don’t always have a happy ending, and sometimes you just have to make the best of it.

For me, it was really slow paced in the beginning. BUT it is a character driven book with two characters telling you their every thought, so obviously it’s going to be slow-paced at some points. I will say there were a lot of happy and cute moments in this book, but I still wouldn’t call it a light-hearted read.

In conclusion this book deals with the most heavy laden parts of life. You can’t expect a fast paced read with huge plot twists and climax’s because real life isn’t always like. I would definitely recommend this book, but only if you are in the mood for something happy yet sorrowful aka bittersweet.
