I had practiced sitting meditation for some years and walking meditation a few times when I read this book.
Having read like one-third of the book, I went for a walking meditation. And then, one more time just before I finished the book. And I have to say that it felt like a door that had been invisible to me all these years had opened. A very accessible door that I had never noticed in all those years of sitting meditation.
That second walking meditation took me 1.5 hour and it took me somewhere I had never been before.
I practice walking meditation everyday now. Please, just read this book.

I've always rushed while walking ever since I was a child. I always thought walking fast and taking long steps saved me time and energy. I've encountered walking meditation and even practiced it before but this book made me realize the stress I've caused myself by rushing everywhere. No wonder I never feel at ease after a walk or even after just moving around.
As for the book it's simple, short and a bit repetitive, but it has Thich Nhat Hanhs wisdom shared in his straightforward ways.

Quick read on slow walking. How's that for irony? First book I read by Thich Nhat Hanh. It is written with simple soothing language and it's an easy read with an important message: how you walk can change your state of mind and well-being. Walking meditation was not a new idea to me. What I love about this short ebook is how the author makes it so simple, so accessible, and so creative that you may actually be inspired to do what he says as you read, to go outside and walk this way: in sync with your breath, full of love and joy and gratitude as your feet touch Mother Earth, regardless of where you are and what your destination. So yes to learning to walk well all over again.
A lovely little book full of heartfelt reminders to be present in daily life and to use walking as a way of connecting with the earth. A quick read but not one that's meant to be chugged through; it's a book I'll take with me on walks as a way to help with meditation and appreciation.
