Seemed poorly edited (the two encounters with Rudolph and Bradley).
I don't think I can give this book a proper rating. the writing was great another Dresden book come and gone but certain events just knocked the wind right of my sails.

Without a mystery for Harry to be on, Armageddon seems underwhelming

Yeah I see what they was it’s own book. Great read. Long time fans, prepare yourself it’s going to be a long night.

The complete opposite of the oh-so-calm Peace Talks, the first 90% was just a chaotic battle and about halfway through I was thinking to myself "ok can we get on with the story now please".... there were many "holy crap!" moments and certainly some unexpected turns, but overall I wasn't too impressed. I am still stunned by some of these events though, like I cant believe Butcher did that, and its these things that keep the rating at 4 stars. I feel like this series could have benefited from being multi POV. That would have added a lot of depth and outside perspective and more of that huge world feeling that I love, because this almost entirely takes place in Chicago and I find myself asking "why here, when the world is so big?" too often. I look forward to the next one...cant wait to see what chaos Harry gets himself into next.
An incredibly long drawn out battle that culminates in some of the best writing so far in the series...and some of the toughest moments.
On top of that, the short story at the end was the perfect cap to this intense read.

Jim Butcher has the ability to keep me up at night to finish a book, and has, many times. Battle Ground was no different, in that regard. And its title is accurate. Nearly the entire book is a gory description of battle. The reason I gave it four instead of five stars is that I missed the trivialities, the little funny things that Jim throws in to balance out all the horrible things. Harry fought a lot of horrible things in this book.
It wraps up on a lot of things. I can see why people dislike it with non-stop action and not a lot of detective work. Butcher loves to cockblock Harry.
Enough Said.
