I adored Lux and Slate! This book is different from Ace Of Betrayal but I still loved it!

It took me a little longer (1 day) to get into this book compared to ace of betrayal but I think that’s cause I still had a book hangover with Heath and Walker!

The characters in this book seem more well rounded and complex but that could also be that it’s a sequel and got to build on previous characters. There’s also more emotions in this books (what can I say family’s are  messy) (not her mom though HATE her)

Also the romance in this book is juicier than Ace and amazing. I was drooling 😂.

I was gifted and ARC copy of this book and am so glad I got to read it! I also can’t wait for Rhett’s book!!
Also still the tension between Pierce and Maeve (who reminds me of Amren from ACOTAR) is off the charts and I bet they will have a book and have crazy hate-sex.

I was lucky to be chosen as an ARC reader and am so excited by this book.  OMG!!! I loved this story. I didn’t think I liked Lux after the first book but she was the complete opposite of what I thought and omg Slate; he is everything. They said this is gossip girl meets breaking bad and it really is.  I cannot wait to see what character (I already think I know who it will be) gets a book next. Definitely recommend reading this book!

This book is a powerful and emotional story of redemption that made me feel more emotions than I expected.

Lux Colombia-Clarke’s character arc between Ace of Betrayal and Queen of Vengeance is amazing. In book one, she was the sharp-tongued mean girl who seemed to care only about revenge and her social status. Those traits are still in this book, but we see beneath her hard exterior. She’s fierce and driven, but also loyal and loving.

This book covers some tough topics,  like grief, abandonment and abuse. But Jessica Jude handles each topic with sensitivity and grace. The pain is realistic, but it doesn’t define the characters.

Now for Slate Lawson. Slate grew up in a low income area, and following the loss of both parents, has been left to raise his little sister, Briar, who has an unknown medical condition. He will do anything to protect her, to get her a diagnosis and give her a good life, even if that means making questionable decisions of his own.

Slate is an incredible MMC. He has many flaws, but he sees Lux in a way that nobody has tried to before. He doesn’t want to change her, he just wants to show her what love can truly feel like. Their relationship grows slowly, with reservations on each side. They both need each other for answers, but find themselves drawn to each other in the meantime.

Lux makes Slate want to be more. And in turn, he teaches her that love doesn’t have to hurt.

This book explores the power of finding love in unexpected places, and that social divides can’t compete with the bond of two people who want to fight for each other.

⭐️4.5⭐️

I would like to thank Jessica Jude for sending me my first ARC! I received this book to read prior to publication to post an honest review.

I initially was wary because it follows another character in the core group, and I wasn't a huge fan of the others in the friend group. In the first one, we really got to know Walker and (to some extent) Heath. But this was so good—better than the first!

The first was high-school drama, but this book? It's more serious, but still made me giggle and gasp at times. And SLATE? He's a man. This book was grittier and even tougher to read at times than the first. I thoroughly enjoyed this ride. The only qualm I have is that I feel like it ended a bit abruptly. I wanted the details on that last revenge plot they cooked up!

Okay, so full disclosure, I didn't really like Lux in the first book, and I wasn't looking forward to reading her story.  That being said, the girl did grow on me.  She was still immature, but I could understand her motivations a bit better after this book.  She also showed a quiet strength that we didn't get to see in the first book of the series.  On the other hand, I absolutely loved Slate.  He's the grumpy (hot) bad-boy with a chip on his shoulder, who's been dealt a pretty tough hand in life.  I felt super bad for him getting caught in Lux's revenge crosshairs, but he stood his own.  I loved how dedicated he was to his sister and how willing he was to do anything for her.  I did enjoy seeing Lux and Slate growing together.  I think they both rubbed off on one another and brought out the best in one another.  Their chemistry was absolutely electric.  The story was intriguing, but a bit difficult to mention without any spoilers.  I will say that I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in Book 3.

Thank you Jessica for sending me an ARC of this book!

I have to admit, I was skeptical before starting. We know Lux from Ace of Betrayal where we only really saw her as a mean girl style influencer, so to have a book about her piqued my curiosity but I wasn’t sure how I was going to fall as in love with her as I had Walker.

Allow me to eat my words.

There is a depth to Lux which I think we can all resonate with; how the image someone portrays on social media can mask someone’s real life. Jessica has done a great job of making Lux human and relatable, with Slate giving her a crash course in “real life”, and by the end I yearned for her to have some real, genuine joy in her life.

I devoured this book and it left me craving the next one, I am feeling quite bereft without the citizens of Wesbourne’s elite in my life! And any book that makes you want the next one immediately is definitely worth adding to your TBR.

Thank you Jessica for an ARC copy of this book! I loved Ace of Betrayal (book 1) and thought that it would be hard for Queen of Betrayal to top it, but it did! I loved getting to know Lux in a deeper way than the ditsy, selfish socialite that she is portrayed as in AoB. It gave real Gossip Girl vibes, just like the first book did, and was reminiscent of Serena and Dan's relationship at the beginning of the series (rich girl x poor boy, wrong side of town type vibes), if Dan was from a real dangerous area.
Being able to see Slate's protectiveness of his sister, and his willingness to do whatever it took to get her help was a nice dynamic to read. Watching him go from hating the "silver spoon" Lux, to beating her boyfriend into the ground before anything had really happened between them was both funny and so hot.
The growth of both Slate and Lux felt natural, as they both begin to see themselves as more than their stereotypes, and they do that both together and apart. there are also a lot of side characters from AoB that pop up and it is so nice to see them continue to live their lives and get snippets of that.

This book was a perfect combination of drama, witty banter, and feet kicking giggle moments. Slate and Lux are the hottest couple! I kept wishing they were real so I could see where they were now.
This book is the 2nd book of the Hand of Revenge Series but you can read this book as a standalone (I highly recommend reading the first book - Ace of Betrayal because it is another 5 star read).
I can’t wait for the 3rd book in the series. I am loving every character Jude writes. They are equal parts complex and fun!
I think this may be one of my favorite reads of the year.
