3.5/5 ⭐ I didn't love this but I also didn't hate it. The first one was good but this one was honestly too long and drawn out. A little repetitive and kinda setting up the next book. I am actually excited for Sebastians book. The little plot twist at the end was good but definitely wouldn't read this series again. Too many similarities to other books.

This bully romance will take you on a while ride. You will hate and love Drew at the same time. Book one left us with a major cliffhanger and book two brings secrets to life! The villain in the story gets what's coming to him and the one to bring him down was a total curve ball for me. I. DID. NOT. SEE. THAT. COMING!

She also gives us a little peek on who is getting their story next and I can't wait!!

This one was a missed opportunity. The end of the first book should have been the push Bel needed to bury the bookworm and grow a pair. There were hints throughout that promised more but her actions were still that of a dependent and submissive woman who craved respect and equality in her relationship but was too scared to break the cycle and channel her inner badass. Instead of a "wildflower," she was more of a shrinking violet.

The Wildflower (Book 2 of Oakmount Elite) by J.L. Beck is a dark romantic suspense novel. Oh wow did I enjoy this novel but I knew I would before starting it. I HIGHLY advise reading The Wallflower first or you will be pretty lost in this book. The characters are wonderful and written so well and I love the plot.
Drew comes across as a little crazy but as all these crazy characters they have a lot of backstory to deal with and loads of baggage to carry around. The issue becomes they do not know how to always deal with it. Then there is Mabel or Bel with her own past and trauma. There are so many emotions to go through in this story and it definitely can be very dark. I love the chemistry they have and love. The author makes this all come together in one fantastic story.
I really enjoyed this story as I do any J.L. Beck novel. Her writing is fantastic and I enjoy the dark path and redemption she takes you on. Definitely check the triggers and then check this series out!

DID NOT FINISH: 27%

I loved the first book, and had really high hopes for the second but could not finish it. Maybel became a character I could no longer resinate with, and even threw in a “I’m not like other girls” bit just for eating a piece of pizza. The story didn’t progress in captivating way for me, and I no longer looked forward to continuing the story.

Drew and Bel are back in the second half of this duet and they are bringing ALL the drama. *****If you have not read The Wallflower (Book 1), please do not read any further***** Last we left Drew and Bel, Drew’s father forced him to discard Bel in front of him like a piece of trash and Drew did it in spectacular fashion. Heart broken and bleeding from her head, Sebastian is there to scoop her up and bring her home because what else are newly found brothers for. Now Bel is struggling with the loss of her mom, the head injury and a broken heart that hurts the worst thanks to Drew. Drew knows that he screwed everything up and dare I say he feels remorse, but he will stop at nothing to get his Flower back.

I love this author and I really enjoyed book 1, but something about this book just did not work for me. I had a hard time getting into it and I kind of ended up disliking most of the characters until about 60% of the way through. This is just my personal opinion and I feel like that should not sway you from reading this book. There was just something that did not catch my attention as much as book 1 did.
