3.5 stars. Thank goodness the whole Arnot plot is done. It was getting on my last nerve. LOL

Another good book in the Inspector Gamache series. There were quite a few subplots as always, but they were great in giving a deeper perspective of the many characters in the town. I am very curious as to what will come of Gamache's role in the surete.

Molto carino.

I like this series. This book is the best one I have read so far. The method of the murder was very odd and I'm sure anyone could really ever pull it off. I enjoy the characters and the process of solving the mystery.

LOVE LOVE LOVE everything about these books. The descriptions are so rich. I both can relate to the familiarity and pine to experience of the spring air, wood stoves, newly greening foliage, rich and savory foods and drinks. And as for Chief Inspector Armand Gamache, who would not want to spend an afternoon having drinks with the man? Or simply watching him. Reading about him will just about cut it. One of my favorite literary characters of all time.

My brain has been complete mush lately and I swear I started this book over about 4 times before I really fell into the story. That sounds like a horrible thing to mention in a 5-star book review, but I want to make it clear that it was 100% worth all the struggles I strangely had with it. (Confession: I took notes for the first few chapters to get my brain back on track.)

The Inspector Gamache books are overflowing with characters but this book I feel like I finally have the names down. If this has turned you off from the books in the past, I have to encourage you to press on.

This isn't much of a review is it? I guess I really just want to cheer you on if you have been on a Three Pines struggle bus. Louise Penny has an incredible talent for writing both hilarious and lovable characters as well as characters you want to punch square in the nose.

I switched between the audiobook and Kindle version of this book because I couldn't wait to find out what was going to happen next.
