Read with the Armchair Travelers Bookclub at ReadBooks in Virginia Beach.
I liked the quirky cast of characters, but this book was a bit lighter than my usual reads (although it does follow the growth of a grieving widow), so it wasn’t for me.

Do yourself a favor and read this book! I gobbled this up! Such a ridiculous premise that turned into a truly heartwarming story!

Piper Parrish’s husband Tom dies while out fishing on his crab boat during a storm. Piper is grief-stricken and doesn’t come out of her house for weeks. When she does emerge, she’s convinced Tom is alive and standing right next to her. The small town on Frick Island plays along. A reporter from the mainland comes to Frick Island to cover a different story and is soon captured by Piper’s situation. I really enjoyed the cozy small town feel of this book, the wonderful details that made the unusual setting on Frick Island (off the coast of Massachusetts) come to life, and the writing which made the characters feel so real.
