Festive in Death

Really good! While I wasn't shocked by who ended up being the killer, it did surprise me to see how it all unwound. This was a great story. I really enjoyed watching Eve and Peabody stand up for what is right. Even though the victim was a giant douchebag, that didn't matter. He was still killed and, thus, theirs.

There were also tons of times where I laughed out loud. I seriously love the banter. There was also a random passage/soliloquy by Eve about adultery. I couldn't have said it better myself.

Great book.

I really enjoyed the mystery and the story in this book. I still can't get past this author's weird use of commas instead of "and" in some places. A list with commas (consisting of two items) is not really the way people talk or write. It drives me crazy in all of her books! Still, the characters and story were really entertaining and I'll definitely read more in this series, probably out of order (as usual).

3.5*
Another softer instalment - felt this one was more about Eve's relationships with others - she was even nice to Summerset, just the once mind!!
Christmas was not something in Eve's past so seeing her struggles with all the paraphernalia is fun, but she is still her abrasive self. And she does give some magalicious gifts.
The murder element is fairly tame, no long drawn out torture or gruesome murders. However, the impact of murder is still the same and despite a fairly cut and dried suspect, I did have my doubts that it was all too neat. Luckily Eve thought it through.

Yeah, Yeah - might be formulaic, but I just love this series & will keep on reading as long as she keeps on writing them!

Once a again a great book from JD Robb. This one surprised me nicely, I already thought I knew who the killer was early in the book, but she got me and game me a nice intriguing ending.

It's close to Christmas and Eve Dallas gets a surprise call from someone she knows who's walked into a murder scene. She and Peabody have their work cut out for them as the victim was a creep.

I enjoyed this story a lot. It has all the things I love about the series...Peabody, a strong procedural, a cast of interesting suspects, clever dialogue, Eve's mixed metaphors, Roarke time and the annual holiday party at Eve and Roarke's mansion. An added bonus was a twist I didn't foresee for a long time.

There are some laugh out loud moments along with the mystery. It's a very well balanced story between the personal and the murder case. Nicely done.

3.5/5

This was fun. The dead guy was trash so it lent a very dramatic air to the story, it was like watching a soap opera. Everybody hated him and everybody was sleeping with each other and I enjoyed every minute of it.

I also really liked the characters' moments and the party. Great stuff!

Eve Dallas 39.

The death of a man no one liked gives NYPD Homicide Lieutenant Eve Dallas a wealth of possible suspects. As if that wasn't stressful enough, she has to shop for Christmas gifts for the many friends she's somehow acquired over the years.

Love, marriage, trust, promises. They are all explored in this wonderful entry in the futuristic detective series. I was glad to see a return to simple murderers rather than the genius masterminds we have had in some of the collection lately. Having to find justice for someone who should rather have been put in jail adds a certain something to the story. I'm amazed to be as enthralled with the series now as I was when I started reading it. Not many series can keep your interest for that long a time. Nora Roberts is truly a phenomenal writer. 5 out of 5.

In ‘Festive in Death’ Lieutenant Eve Dallas has to investigate the murder of Trey Ziegler, a personal trainer and just a terrible human being. It’s almost Christmas and all Eve wants to do is tie this murder up as fast as possible. Unfortunately there are a lot of potential suspects and soon the case takes a turn which will add more work to the Lieutenant. Between attending a fabulous Christmas party Eve’s husband Roarke planned and investigating a murder, this year’s Christmas is definitely going different than planned.

Even though I read the fortieth book in this series first before I started reading this one I really loved this book. This book is filled with twists and turns and I loved how descriptive J.D. Robb writes. There is a lot of details in this book and I could almost imagine myself being a part of the investigation. I loved how this book goes from moments in the investigation, to personal moments between Eve and Roarke. It’s just the perfect mix.

Lieutenant Eve Dallas is an awesome main character. I love her personality and how she just isn’t really a social person but tries for her husband. I love her flaws and how she acts with suspects. It’s just so much fun to read and I couldn’t stop reading.

This book is definitely another great one by J.D. Robb. I would recommend this series to everyone out there. I even bought my mother in law the first book in this series because I just knew she would love it!!

Enjoyable if you are a fan of the series for the character interactions, Eve's Christmas shopping and the big Christmas bash. The mystery itself is not particularly complex and I wasn't at all surprised by the murderer. While I still enjoy the series I wouldn't want to read too many in a row as they all have a certain sameness about them (but that is to be expected with so many in the series).
