I can’t believe the series is over!!! I’ve been attempting to read this series since I was a kid. It feels very bittersweet to be leaving these characters and world.

This is a 3.5 for me. The story felt disjointed and kinda all over the place.

I appreciated how all the characters came together and that we got a glimpse into their futures. I’m really happy with how everyone and everything turned out.

I still stand by my claim that Darke felt like the ending for the series. If we just put Jenna’s journey to queendom in Darke, that would have been the perfect ending to the series.

At last, the wizards are preparing to destroy the evil Two-Faced Ring and all its Darke magic. But first they must kindle the ancient Alchemical Fyre, and only Marcellus knows where the old Alchemy chamber of Fyre is hidden.

I loved this book! The plot is full of action and magic and twists. I adore the characters, and I love how they grow and learn throughout the series. This book was particularly emotional for the Heap family as Princess Jenna prepares to be crowned Queen.

There are so many hilarious details in this book that make it really fun to read. Each character has a unique relationship with the others, and I love the complicated dynamics between them all.

I love the world-building and the history that is resolved in this last book of the series. There are old legends and ancient spells that are unearthed after centuries in the dust.

I just adore this whole series! The intertwined plots are so complex and imaginative. Really good story telling in the writing style that puts the reader right into the middle of the action and tugs at your heart strings.

April 27, 2013: Now I have to go back and re-read the entire series straight through!

May 22, 2013: Series re-read finished! OK, maybe not as groundbreaking and earth-shattering as LOTR, Harry Potter, or His Dark Materials, but Septimus Heap has definitely claimed a spot in my Fantasy Faves.

2021 re-read: It's been such a pleasure to re-read this beloved childhood series, and that I've actually enjoyed them! I'm a little emotional that it's over. In this one it wasn't the main adventure plot I was most interested in, but seeing all the characters grow up. It's been fun, and I can't wait to revisit this series when I have children I can read these to!

2013 read: Goodreads rating nr 100, woo!
And this is the perfect book to earn that number!

I have loved the Septimus Heap series ever since I fell in love with the cover of the first book many years ago. And ever since, every time I've visited the Philippines, I raided the bookstores to see if there was a new book out. I was surprised that this year, there actually was; the very last one. And even though I wouldn't really like it to be, I think it's time. I'm an adult now, so it'll be good to finish it now, so I can read and enjoy it all over again in a few years!

It was wonderful to read this, and get back into the beloved and known world of Septimus Heap again, with the familiar map in the beginning of the book. I must say that the story started a little slow, at least in my opinion, so I got time to get to know the characters again and remember. I was also very happy about Simon and Lucy's wedding! :D
Though I feel that later in the book, the action was very tightly packed and hard to keep up with, but I guess it had to be that way to fit it all into 700 pages - And the font is big, I keep forgetting that this is a children's book xD
I love reading about Jenna growing up and preparing to be queen - Finally meeting and getting close to her ''real'' family and stuff. And it's awesome that she's so modern!
And also, I'm very happy for Marwick, who finally gets his own name, family, story and life! I feel like he hasn't really gotten the love he deserves in the past books, especially since he's been so brave and helpful to the others.

The ending was a great roundup, with the
Spoilercoronation, Septimus knowing he's going to be the 777th ExtraOrdinary Wizard(heheheh, that number is never going to stop haunting this family!)
and the little ''what happened to them?'' of all the characters. I can now finally let go of this world, even though I probably never will entirely.

i think fyre is one of my favorite books in the series. when i finished it at the end of my 2020 reread i think i got chills at the arthur c clarke quote in the back. and this time around (2023 ) i teared up in the last chapter when
septimus runs into his future self at the house of foryx
anyway i love love love these books so so much. yes there are inconsistencies (like how stanley's ratlets' names change between syren and darke) but that is ok and that is part of the charm. i love angie sage's writing and how the pov will sometimes switch to something innocuous like the toaster or a random animal.i love the world of the castle and all the characters.  i want to live in the ramblings so so bad.
