In the world of education, there are numerous obstacles. But, then there are books like this that make educators laugh out loud about the insanity of the “business” which has become their lives.
Many thanks to the author for giving educators a reason to laugh and inspiring hope in them to get up and go to work tomorrow.

If you're a teacher, this is the light book you need to pick up. I was often shaking my head in recognition and laughing out loud.

Adequate Yearly Progress would be hilarious, if only it wasn’t so true. It’s a fictional look at a year in one high school through the personal and professional lives of several teachers. A year rife with educational consultants with no practical experience, an endless sea of meaningless paperwork, the latest ever changing fads and buzzwords, self-serving politicians and superintendents, pointless tasks getting in the way of teaching time… the list goes on. A depressing satire which would make anyone wary of the public school system but feel for the teachers.

I swear I have worked with these people in these situations but never at the same time or in the same school. I couldn’t stopping nodding and giggling, yep that happens!

This book could only have been written by a teacher or former teacher. As a former educator myself it was like reliving my teaching days. Elden nails what it is like and what teachers have to contend with. Teaching is a very rewarding job, but is a very difficult and demanding job as well. Hats off to all the wonderful teachers out there!
This is a must read book for all educators, but you don't have to be an educator to like this book. It's full of funny scenes anyone can enjoy. The characters are well thought out and easy to get invested in. All around the book was a quick read worth picking up and enjoying during the school year!

3.75 I liked it...but if you are going to write a book about Texas, maybe don’t use Booker T as a high school with a great football team...since it’s for performing arts and doesn’t have athletics.

This book was a quick and easy read, and some parts of it were really funny. But honestly, as an educator, I was stressed out by a lot of things that happened in this book. It was too close to real life.

It was a little slow but it definitely spoke to the struggles that public teachers face.
